I did this for the teenager I once was. She used to suffer a lot over some things and Harry Potter world made her laugh, made her safe and helped to shape her into an adult she is today. She'd be above herself walking through these sets, seeing all the props, arts and crafts, hearing all the sounds and seeing kids running around in their cloaks, playing with their wands.
With that being said, it's not 20 years ago, it's 2026. And in 2026, Jo Rowling, who used to be a hero for many of us (just like Harry, Hermione and Ron), dedicated her 50s to fight against trans people. All in the name of women's rights, she says. No, Jo, from being a hero with incredible legacy to fkn Umbridge fueling hate towards a tiny minority. Is it a middle-age crisis? Does she miss that power and thrill only Potter could make her feel? Is she obsessed with twitter likes and reactions? Yikes, that's sad. Therapy maybe? Please leave social media for good and grow old in peace. Dumbledore himself would take away your wand from you, for good. Women are not scared of trans people. We're scared of straight men. And their sexual assault, their higher pays, their wars, their politics, their misogyny and their patriarchy. List is endless. It is so NOT your place to interfere within LGBT, enjoy your castle and use your money, power and words to actually help this world to be better. Because you're doing it wrong. Since it was first announced in October 2021, that Jodie was finally stepping on a theatre stage for the very first time (and in a one-woman play), I remember writing somewhere: "Well, she's all you need anyways. She's going to kill this!".
3 years before, in 2018, watching her tv monologue Bovril Pam (still one of my favourite things she's ever done), I remember thinking - "Wow, this feels very theatrical. She's going to do something amazing in theatre one day." 4 years later, Prima Facie and @jodiemcomer changed the world.
I can't even count the stories, comments and tweets posted over the years. The number of "Thank you for introducing me to Jodie Comer." DMs I got. Sending random tourists in NY to the theatre via twitter. Promoting this play, its message and Jodie's work has been one of the biggest drives in my 30s. I was so devastated when I couldn't travel for the 1st West End run, missing out on seeing this live turned into one of the biggest regrets of my life. I really thought everything ended for good after Broadway. The experience of watching it on the screen at home was quite something - thrill, pride, anxiety, panic attack, heartbreak. It has given me a definition I never knew I needed. And a closure. It lit up a fire under my ass to change my career and go after the film industry where I truly belong. So I did it. When they announced this tour and I got the tickets for the front row in Canterbury, I cried for 40 minutes.
The video of her bow isn't mine, but it was exactly my pov. I was right in front of her but I sort of didn't want to shove the phone to her face, we were busy crying and clapping like seals. She did so well!🥹🫂🫀 Matinee was full of men! Like half of the theatre!👏 I was ready for my chipsticks moment but she threw the packet right above my head, she fkn launched them🚀 but it flew so fast and hit someone in row 3-5, all I could hear was a loud OUCH from a woman somewhere behind me. Wanted to open with "I've waited 15 years for this.🥺" but it turned into - "Hello, I'm your day 1. I'm from Croatia."😂 Funny how your brain hardly brains in these situations. My girl Lee was shook someone outside the UK showed up for her, bless her. Maybe I should have mentioned I travelled to 4 different countries for 3 LM tours&Jade.😃 Managed to tell her that her music is amazing and she asked me about my fav tracks. Hope you liked the gift♥️🇭🇷 @leighannepinnock and I'm glad my sister got her artwork signed (and gifted Leigh one as well).
Managed to have a more chilled convo with her sister Sairah, not many others pay attention but I said congratulations to her as well, she works her ass off as her manager and as I'm someone who used to drag LM management a lot (for good reasons🤣) - no notes for the Pinnock management and well fucking done.👏 @sairah_pinnock
Oh, and yall know that I'm always the biggest sucker for acoustic so to witness Leigh live like this is my idea of heaven.☁️ Her voice was so smooth and strong, buttery as she says🫠, all around YUM YUM for everyone's ears!
Leigh...she was my whole 20s, now half 30s already, we're doing good, my girl!🚀🌍
