One thing that quietly stressed me out during the first half of this year was constantly scrolling.

Every day, it felt like there was another heartbreaking headline, another reason to worry, another reminder of everything that wasn’t going right in the country. I didn’t even realize how much those tiny bits of information were adding up until I noticed they were affecting my mood, and my thoughts

There were days I wanted to delete all my social media and stay completely uninformed. But at the same time, I knew I still needed to stay aware, for my own safety and to know what was happening around me.

The Let Them Theory helped me ! Because worrying about things outside my control wasn’t changing them. It was only exhausting me.

Maybe we’re not actually surrounded by idiots. 😂

Sometimes people aren’t being difficult, they just communicate and process information differently. That was my biggest lesson from Surrounded by Idiots.

It’s an easy read with lessons that made me reflect on my own communication style too.

Day 3 of showing up. 🤍

Hi, my name is Efe. 👋🏽

For the longest time, I felt bad that I wasn’t the life of the party anymore.
I kept trying to get the old me back, the Efe who could do back to back outings, stay out till 2 a.m., and still somehow have energy for the next day.

Now? 😭

Can we please go out early and be back home by 11 p.m.? Because if I’m in a club till 2 a.m., I’m sleeping, and I don’t care how loud the music is. 😂

For a while, I kept telling myself, “Efe, you’re too young to be feeling like this. You still need to parrrttttyyyyy!”

And I still do... just differently.
These days, I love slow mornings. I love outings where I can actually hear the person I’m talking to. I love game nights, getting completely lost in a good series, reading a good book, spending quality time with family and friends, and yes, I still enjoy going out too.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m still the dramatic Efe. 😂 Just with an earlier bedtime.

It took me a while to realize that I don’t have to force myself to enjoy things the same way I did in my early 20s. People change, and that’s okay.
I’m not 23 anymore, and that’s okay too. 🤍

Day 2 of showing up. 🤭

I was so sure I’d record a voice-over for this today... but my 9–5 said, “Not on my watch.” 😭

So here’s a little recap instead. 🖤

One of the highlights of June was getting to attend this martial arts event, and I genuinely had the best time. The energy, the discipline, the performances... everything was so good. Definitely one of those experiences I’d do again.
