Laila Bloomstone (@thelaibl) is featured in the May edition of Nikitin Mag (@nikitinmag)

“LAILA BLOOMSTONE IS A TORONTO-BASED HYPERREALIST PAINTER WHOSE WORK TRANSFORMS THE FAMILIAR LANGUAGE OF CANDY, PACKAGING, AND CONVENIENCE STORE CULTURE INTO VIVID STUDIES OF MEMORY AND DESIRE. WORKING PRIMARILY IN ACRYLIC, SHE RECREATES REFLECTIVE WRAPPERS, SATURATED COLORS, AND CRINKLED PLASTIC SURFACES WITH STRIKING PRECISION, CAPTURING THE ODDLY EMOTIONAL EXPERIENCE OF STANDING IN FRONT OF A SNACK AISLE - DRAWN IN BY NOSTALGIA, IMPULSE, AND RECOGNITION. INSPIRED BY LATE-NIGHT GAS STATION STOPS, MOVIE THEATER CANDY RUNS, AND THE SMALL RITUALS TIED TO EVERYDAY CONSUMPTION, BLOOMSTONE ELEVATES FLEETING MOMENTS INTO PAINTINGS THAT FEEL BOTH PLAYFUL AND PSYCHOLOGICALLY RESONANT.”

MOVIE DATE ID • acrylic on 36x36 inch canvas 🍿🎬🍬 -The title of this work is Movie Date ID for two reasons, like the neccessary identification for entering a movie is snacks , but also ID also stands for Isabella @isabellabruniart and Duncan and their love for movie dates that inspired this piece. My work will be displayed @decotoronto till the end of January! Check me out (also u can totally buy this piece if u want) love this song too I wanna go out tonight #candyartist #toronto #artist taken in Deco Gallery by @thelaibl

Meet the artists of Camp Fluff Toronto 🇨🇦 Laila Bloomstone @thelaibl explores the intricate connection between moments and food. Her primary objective is to capture the essence of those seemingly insignificant pauses, like the hurried stop at a gas station during a road trip where the contemplative moment of selecting snacks takes over, or the nostalgic act of choosing treats for a movie date. These instances, such as stumbling upon your mom's favourite candy at a convenience store, are laden with a unique sense of time and memory.

Catch her work at Camp Fluff Toronto on August 16th at the Super Wonder Gallery! #campfluff #toronto #canada taken in Toronto, Canada by @thelaibl
