Universal Asexual Caturn Bookmarks are in my Ko-fi shop, and there’s a limited supply, so grab one before they’re gone!

I loved making a Uni Ace version of this bookmark. The Universal Asexual flag was designed by Ashabi of @_aceingrace_ and the dandelion yellow stripe is my favorite part. Go follow them to learn more about the flag and the work behind it.

The back has a moon QR code that links to an asexual resource page, plus an “if found, return to” spot so your bookmark can find its way home.

My art is also at @ferndalecatshelter right now, and every purchase made through the shelter includes a donation to their homeless kitties.

Buying from me directly supports a disabled LGBTQ+ human artist. Made for ace readers, book lovers, and anyone on the asexual spectrum who wants a little queer art tucked into their current read. (And if you're not ace, that's ok too, you're still supporting an ace!)

Shop at ko-fi.com/thelarsonlens/shop, linked in my bio. If buying isn’t in reach right now, saving or sharing this post helps it reach more ace folks too.

Also, it's been a minute, but I'm pretty sure the book is Olivia Gray Will Not Fade Away by @cierasburch go check it out! Back of the Caturn bookmark on a purple and gold galaxy background. A moon QR code sits above the text “look within yourself,” “not a void, but a universe,” “ever-expanding,” and “If found, return to:” with blank lines, plus linktr.ee/asexualresource. by @thelarsonlens

Ewok presents: Aromantic Caturn!

Before our favorite bundle of energy went on to adventure in the great wide somewhere, he got an exclusive viewing of this limited art series benefitting Ferndale Cat Shelter!

This piece is one of a series with the same lineart and different colors, with this one representing the gender identity Aromantic.
The human artist, Charlie, says that different people describe aromantic in a way that resonates with them. How do you describe aromanticism?

You can read more here:

The current aromantic pride flag was designed by Tumblr user Cameron (@cameronwhimsy) from Australia in 2014 and features five horizontal stripes. Dark green represents aromanticism. Light green represents the aromantic spectrum. White represents platonic and aesthetic attraction. Grey represents grey-romantic and demiromantic identities. Black represents the sexuality spectrum, reflecting that aromantic people have a range of sexual orientations. (Source: @flagsforgood)

This print is at @ferndalecatshelter looking for its forever home!

‘Why Wouldn’t I Stand Up for Everybody?’

From disaster relief, to allyship to LGBTQ+ and other marginalized communities, to supporting children’s literacy and love of books– Dolly proved to be the best of humanity. The voice of a revolution, our country drag queen, the iconic P Titty, a girl of many colors, teacher of life lessons, Dolly’s philanthropy impacted the lives of millions, and I hope to have captured some of her spirit in this art piece.

‘Find out who you are and do it on purpose.’

Clarification: the quote on the last slide is from the interview. The paragraph/text in the rest of the image is stuff I wrote.

I couldn’t very well host an art fundraiser for Ferndale Cat Shelter without having the work appraised first, now could I? Well, I’m proud to share that the Uni Ace Caturn has received the highest honor: the Nose Boop of Approval from Rocket Man. You can have this one-of-a-kind print knowing your money will be going to a good cause, too, supporting not just the artist, but Rocket Man and all the other kitties :3

For this fundraiser, there are 10 prints (10x10” with optional 12x12” mat/frame) available in various pride colors! This one Rocket Man nose booped is the Universal Asexual or Uni Ace flag, released by Ashabi (@_aceingrace_ ) in 2026. You do not need to be someone who uses the label to appreciate the art, support the artist, and homeless cats. We appreciate all art appreciators, whether they be LGBTQ+ or allies!

Rocket Man’s info is here if you are interested in reading more about this sweet boi. He’s a part of a bonded pair with Storm, another grey kitty, and they would surely love to meet you! Both are listed as adoptable cats, and Rocket Man’s page is at this link https://petlover.petstablished.com/pets/share/2700672
You can also learn about becoming a foster on Ferndale Cat shelter’s website! https://ferndalecatshelter.org/faqs/ and check out the upcoming in-person fundraiser event this Saturday as well!

Massive thank you to Remmi (@energynmotion.me) for organizing the first-ever Hilton Street Market last Sunday!

I got to meet cool makers and creatives, check out the new food truck @lakalava13 and connect with folks at our booth– which had art (both mine and @mac.n.bleu) a-spec resources, and an interactive game where everyone won something :)

It was blazing hot, so extra appreciation to everyone who had cool drinks available. I definitely could’ve used the shorts version of @swoveralls_ in their Color Riot design (which was made in partnership with Drag Story Hour!) Regardless, I wore it as long as I could cuz I was so excited I got them in time!

Even with the heat, we managed to raise some money for the cool cats at @ferndalecatshelter. FCS recently shared that they’re dangerously low on adult wet cat food, so I’m working on a bigger Caturn art fundraiser in collaboration with them. Soon you’ll be able to snag a premium art print and other goodies while helping support FCS cat food/care needs.

Also, I’m not sponsored by @shop_catbox (though they do donate 10% of profits to shelters) I bought those toys, and hoped putting them out would help with fundraising, but in the end, it really came down to human connection and people’s connection to FCS.

Big thanks to the cat parents, booth supporters, and everyone who stopped to chat. More fundraiser details coming soon– watch this space 🪐

Whether you’re able to donate, purchase, share, or otherwise boost, it all helps support a disabled artist and raise awareness for rescue cats in need.

Local artivism + community care + fuller kitty bellies :3

And yes, Whovians, that is a watercolor of @ruthmadeley in one of my example pieces hanging in the back - with the #DisabilityPrideFlag of course - happy Disability Pride Month!

Aromantic Visibility Day is June 5th and raises awareness and visibility for people on the Aromantic (aro) spectrum who experience little to no romantic attraction.

It's also the perfect day to share my new and improved Aromantic Caturn design! You may have seen a version of it on my new bookmarks, or in sticker preorders, but this is the full version that I now offer as an art print! (I am also updating and ordering more of the aromantic caturn bookmarks I sold out of, and preorders for stickers are still open!)

According to AUREA (aromanticism.org) the colors on the flag stand for:

Dark Green & Light Green: Aromanticism & the Aromantic Spectrum. Green is the colour opposite of red, which is often regarded as the color to represent romantic love. Combined these two colours represent all identities underneath the aromantic umbrella.

White: Sometimes referred to as ‘the platonic stripe’, white represents types of attraction other than romantic or sexual. It includes types such as platonic and aesthetic, among others. It also denotes the importance and validity of all non-romantic relationships, such as queerplatonic relationships, and all non-romantic forms of love.

Grey & Black: The Sexuality Spectrum. These stripes are to acknowledge that the sexual identities of aromantics are just as diverse as the aros themselves, if they even have one.

I have a linktree with aromantic resources available here:
https://linktr.ee/aromanticresource
That link is the one the QR code in the second image goes to.

The book in the second image is Not Your Backup, from the Sidekick Squad series by @cblee_cblee

Happy aro day!

My next Caturn variation/design is ready! Did you guess which one it is correctly? I thought i'd try something fun for this reveal :)

Pan is when you're attracted to people regardless of gender, and the prefix pan- can be applied to various forms of attraction.

It's also quite possibly the prettiest flag I've seen– so glad to have it as part of my art series. I have pan caturn stickers and prints in the works, and hope to have bookmarks sometime as well. Let me know if you're interested in the comments and check out my ko-fi.

Happy Pride Month! Friendly reminder that the A in LGBTQIA is not for Ally– it's for Agender, Aromantic, Asexual, etc. Aspecs have been fighting for awareness and decentering allies (who, by definition, are *not* in the community, but somehow are so often the focus.) We need to move past this and not just be open to learning, but intend to learn and put things into practice. This is what I mean when I say ally is a verb– not in the literal grammatical sense, but in that it's not a label you can claim, you have to earn it and keep earning it. You have to actively be an ally. Ally isn't just a word for anyone not in the community– it's for those who show up and keep showing up.

If you were at @ferndalepride in May, you may have seen this sign at the aspec booth. I was encouraged by those who approached the booth seeking to learn and further their learning on their own. I have since updated the QR code to a new linktree 'aspecresources' that branches out to the agender, aromantic, and asexual resource linktrees I made so more folks can share this without being led to a regionally-specific page (though you are welcome to share that too, especially if in the Detroit Area so folks can find community.) I will always have some version of this sign at events, and others are welcome to print and post at their booths, too. I realize I might not have posted it anywhere (I'm working on posting more!) so i'm posting this now, and I'm posting to my ko-fi too. It will be a free download, but you are welcome to donate or tip to support my work as well. Follow me on here and on ko-fi for more, cuz i've got plenty of it!

Download the files here:

Stopped by @qahwaticafe for a break from pre-Pride chaos yesterday (an annual experience as I rush to get ready for hosting the aspec booth @ferndalepride) The drinks and desserts are always vibrant and delicious at Qahwati. The book in the picture is Not Your Backup by @cblee_cblee (book three from their Sidekick Squad series.) My new Caturn bookmarks also came just in time for pride, too!
