Last sprinkler watering of the season. 🌱

The final watering after fertilizer needs to be deep and heavy — that's what carries it down into the root zone.

And get those lines blown out before consecutive evenings at or below 0°C. Frozen lines make for an expensive spring.

Big thanks to @greenworkstoolscanada for the support the last 2 years — the 60V crew earned its keep. 🔋 And to @rascalbeverage for believing in our adventure this year. 🍹

Prepping for hibernation. Cleaned up the edges, high mow, light dusting of fertilizer.

Good rule of thumb is: as you prep to blow out irrigation, give the lawn a light feed with fertilizer. Many brands have fall specific blends which boost root health instead of focusing on leaf growth. Key to a healthy start in the spring.

With lows to 1°c tonight, all of our friends came inside. Some of the Agaves are in excess of 100 lbs - so they'll be in for the winter now. The house feels FULL.

Last fertilizer application was about a month ago, and half of the reccommended amount. For my monthly fert applications, I typically set at a 2.5 on the Scotts walk behind spreader. One more application before the year is out. Make sure your fertilizer has Iron in it! Mine doesn't, so I apply seperately.

Watering twice per week, at heavily reduced rates. Don't want to create mould or fungus issues.

Haven't applied soap since August. We'll do this again just as it starts to get real warm next year.

Mowing once per week, lower than in the summer. Helps some of the excess moisture come out of the foliage quicker. Cooler weather affords lower mows.

Early August dethatch did the grass wonders. If I had more time, I'd also do it monthly - less vigorously. Next dethatch will be in spring.

Still fighting mixed varieties of grass from that unnamed/PM me if you're curious, seed supplier. This may actually require a full kill and full reseed to correct. Again - life has been too busy for that, its green and healthy, but maybe in the spring we'll kill and go back to single variety.

It was 39°C, 102°F here today in Western 🇨🇦

Grass is thick and lush like a carpet, still watering 3 days a week - per City of Kelowna Guidelines. The key is a decent soil base, and nutrients. I fertilize once per month at a 4.5 setting on my Scotts spreader, with Iron when possible. Yes, my grass varieties are a plenty 🫣 thanks to my previous seed provider, but everything is healthy. Don't mind the cat, she so LAZY.
