30 years of hiding. One realization that changed everything.

The details? I’m sharing them tomorrow.

But I wanted you to see the arc first - because maybe you see yourself in it.

Over the last year I’ve shared a lot on social media - motherhood, homeschool, gut health, hormones, building a business.

But there’s one thing that’s been the absolute hardest to talk about.

My skin.

For 30 years I carried shame about it. Deep, quiet shame that shaped how I moved through the world.

I wore it like a secret. Avoided mirrors. Deflected activities. Made excuses for photos.

And here’s what I finally figured out - my skin wasn’t broken.

My gut was.

When I healed my gut, everything shifted. The inflammation that showed up on my face was the same inflammation contributing to my chronic pain, making me sensitive to foods, tanking my energy, keeping me stuck.

Fix the root, and the shame doesn’t have anywhere to live anymore.

You don’t have to hide anymore.

Not because your skin or your body needs to be perfect - but because the shame you’re carrying isn’t actually about your body.

It’s about feeling broken.

And you’re not.

Found a photo from exactly one year ago. Sitting at this same desk, writing my first ever student learning plans, wondering what I’d gotten myself into.

Year two. Same desk. Same three boys. A little less panicking, a little more knowing.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned this past year, it’s this: you figure things out by doing them 🤍 by @theleap.wellness

Hormonal. Cystic. “Mystery.” I heard all the labels for my acne over 30 years 🥴

What I never heard was the one question that actually mattered: why is my skin breaking out in the first place?

Here’s what most women never look at: your gut and your skin aren’t separate 🧠✨ When your gut is overloaded, the inflammation shows up on your face. Every breakout has a return address - and it isn’t your skincare.

That’s why the Clear Skin Roadmap works in 3 phases:

1️⃣ Seal the gut barrier - probiotics, prebiotics, and enzymes that calm things at the source

2️⃣ Lower the inflammatory load - greens, ginger, and botanicals that give your body less to fight

3️⃣ Rebuild - the specific nutrients your skin needs to repair: collagen support, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C

Fix the root, and the problem doesn’t have anywhere to live anymore 💫

Healing your skin gets marketed as expensive.

The $300 serums. The spa treatments. The dermatologists. The makeup.

And while targeted nutritional support has a vital place, some of the most powerful inputs for calming gut inflammation and skin reactivity don’t cost a single dime.

Morning light helps set your circadian rhythm and balance cortisol.

Chewing slowly signals your parasympathetic nervous system to actually produce digestive enzymes so your gut can absorb nutrients.

Walking supports blood sugar regulation and lymphatic drainage.

Deep, slow breathing helps shift your body toward a more ‘rest and digest’ state.

And stopping the automatic habit of running your fingers over your face in dread the second you wake up? Maybe your skin doesn’t need to be the first problem your brain tries to solve every morning. And the first emotional response to your day.

Your skin is constantly eavesdropping on your stress. Give it room to exhale 🤍

30 years. Dermatologists, rounds of Accutane, chemical peels, dermabrasions, even laser treatments that left me swollen with an ice pack on my face for days.

Here’s what all of that actually taught me:

1. There’s no such thing as “perfect” skin. Clear skin isn’t flawless skin - it’s skin that’s calm and not running your life. The day I stopped chasing perfection and started chasing healing, everything shifted.

2. The expensive stuff usually treats the symptom, not the cause. Thousands of dollars thrown at my face. Some of it worked... for a while. Then right back where I started. Because none of it addressed WHY I was breaking out.

3. My skin was talking to my gut the whole time. The breakouts, the reactive skin, even the scarring - it wasn’t a skin problem. It was a signal. Once I supported my body from the inside out, my skin finally calmed down.

4. Healing leaves room for imperfection. Even after my skin cleared, I still had texture and old scarring. But the scarring started becoming less noticeable too. Our bodies know how to rebuild - they just need the right support.

5. The freedom is better than the clear skin. Jumping off the dock with my kids. Grocery runs with no makeup. Hair however I want. The confidence came from not thinking about my skin anymore - not from perfection.

If you’re deep in your own quest right now - you’re not doing it wrong. You might just be looking in the wrong place 🤍

When you have acne, hearing these sayings is devastating. They hit you like a punch to the gut, and linger in your mind.

Nobody means anything by them. That’s what makes them worse.

“Put your best face forward” - said to a woman who already spends 40 minutes trying to make her face ‘acceptable’ before she leaves the house.

“Your skin is your best accessory” - as if clear skin is something you chose not to wear today.

For 30 years I heard versions of these. And I internalized every one of them as proof that I wasn’t trying hard enough. That my face was a fixable flaw I was failing to fix.

Here’s what nobody tells you: for so many of us, the acne isn’t a skincare problem. It’s an internal one - and no amount of washing, covering, or “best face” fixes a root cause.

The sayings stop hurting when the struggle stops running your life.

If any of these live in your head rent-free, I put together a free Clear Skin Roadmap - it walks you through why acne isn’t just a surface problem and the steps to start addressing it from the inside out.

$14,800 spent on lasers, dermabrasion, chemical peels, facials, and every topical my dermatologist told me would work 💸

Money I could have spent on my family instead of chasing clear skin.

I tried everything. Accutane. Lasers. Peels. Pills. Creams. It worked - for a little while. Then my acne came. Right. Back. 🔁

Here’s what I finally learned: dermatologists treat your skin. But acne, especially as an adult, isn’t always a skin problem. Sometimes it’s a gut problem showing up on your face.

Your dermatologist can see your skin. They can’t see your gut.

If your gut is out of balance, your intestinal lining likely has gaps, and undigested food particles leak into your bloodstream. Your immune system thinks you’re under attack, and your skin becomes the visible target 🎯

A cream can’t fix that. A laser can’t fix that ❌

Only healing your gut can ✅

And once your gut starts to heal, your skin needs specific building blocks to rebuild:

💚 Vitamin C (100mg daily) - the required cofactor for collagen formation

💚 Biotin (2.5mg daily) - supports healthy skin, hair, and nails as your skin rebuilds

💚 Silicon (10.5mg daily) - supports the structure and elasticity your skin lost

💚 Hyaluronic acid (120mg daily) - holds moisture in so texture becomes less visible as it plumps from within

💚 Gotu kola (120mg daily) - a botanical that supports your skin’s natural collagen renewal

⚠️ The catch: sourcing these separately means five bottles, five price tags, and guessing whether your gut can even absorb them. And none of it works if your gut lining isn’t supported first.

The moment I stopped treating my skin and started treating my gut - everything changed ✨

My breakouts stopped forming. My scarring started to fade. And I’d never felt so relieved, and so free 😌

She came for the gut health. She didn’t expect her skin to clear 🤍

She’d been dealing with bloating after every meal. Feeling so full her stomach hurt to the touch. She thought that was just... normal.

She’d tried so many things. Nothing worked.

Then she started a simple daily ritual. Greens. Gut support. Skin-specific nutrients. Nothing extreme.

Within weeks - bloating, gone. Digestion, better than ever. Skin, clearer than it’s been in years. And energy she forgot she could even feel ✨

Her words: “My bloating is non-existent, my digestion has never been better, my skin has improved significantly, and I don’t remember the last time I had this much energy!”

That message 🥹 Because this is exactly what happened to me. I went looking for gut support and my skin transformed alongside it.

Your gut and your skin aren’t separate systems. They’re connected. When you heal one, the other follows.

If your gut AND your skin are both struggling, it’s not two separate problems. It’s the same root.

Comment ‘GLOW’ or DM me. I’d love to share what helped her - and helped me.

I don’t take a cabinet full of supplements anymore. I take one daily drink that combines three things, and each one has a specific job 🧩

→ 🌿 Greens: 36 fruits and vegetables in one scoop. This is your foundation. Real food concentrates that feed your body what it’s not getting from your diet. Less inflammatory load. More of the raw materials your skin needs.

→ 🫧 Gut support: Probiotics, prebiotics, and digestive enzymes. This is your absorption engine. It restores the bacteria that reduce inflammation, breaks down food so your body can actually use the nutrients, and heals the gut barrier so everything you’re consuming gets where it needs to go.

→ ✨Skin-specific nutrients: Vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, biotin, and botanical extracts that support collagen formation. This is your rebuilding kit. Your skin can’t repair scarring or texture without these - and most people never get them in consistent daily doses.

The thing is, taking these separately almost never works. Not because the ingredients are wrong, but because consistency falls apart. Too many bottles. Too many steps. Too much to remember. It’s just plain ANNOYING 😩

One drink solves that 🤍

I’ve been doing this for over a year now. Same ritual every day. My skin, my gut, my energy - all transformed from one simple, delicious habit 🔑

Not all greens are created equal. I know because I was that person - grabbing whatever looked healthy on the shelf (and for the right price), assuming if it said “greens” or “probiotics” it was doing the job.

Here’s what I learned the hard way:

→ Most grocery store greens are dyed green 🟢 Spirulina and chlorella - the ingredients that actually support your body - are often there in tiny amounts, but not enough to do anything useful.

→ A lot of probiotics don’t survive your stomach acid 💊 Billions of CFU on the label means nothing if they can’t survive the trip. They die before they ever reach your gut ☠️😭

→ Fillers and artificial sweeteners 🧪 Many powders are loaded with gums, artificial flavors, and sweeteners that actually add to your inflammatory load - which is the opposite of what you’re trying to do! And if your skin is inflamed too, this matters more than ever.

→ No enzymes 😮‍💨 Your gut needs digestive enzymes to break down and absorb nutrients. Most greens powders don’t include them. So even the good ingredients can’t get where they need to go 🙃

I’m not saying this to scare you. I’m saying it because I wasted years and a LOT of money on stuff that looked right on the label but wasn’t doing anything inside my body. (Have you ever tried to time about 8 different pills at different times of the day - some with food, some without, AND not forget them altogether, day in, day out?! 🫠 Saaaame. Ugh)

When I finally found something that combined real greens, surviving probiotics, digestive enzymes, and skin-specific nutrients - all in one daily drink - my gut and my skin both shifted 🤍

If you’ve been buying greens or probiotics and wondering why nothing is changing, it might not be you. It might be what you’re taking.
