Potli bags have always had a place in festive dressing. Your mother probably had one, your grandmother did too, and somehow they keep finding their way back every year. The shape may be familiar, but there’s always room to do something new with it.

These are our takes on the potli, each one worked differently through colour, embroidery and detail.

Made for the festive season, and hopefully for many seasons after.

We get asked often why we called ourselves The Leather Garden. When we started, the name came naturally. Leather was at the centre of what we wanted to make, and we were equally drawn to the world around it, to nature, craft and the feeling of things growing and changing. The two came together in the name.

We’ve been thinking about that name a lot lately, especially now that we’ve been at it for eight years. There’s been a lot to look back on, everything we’ve made, the things we’ve learnt, the directions we took and the ones we didn’t. At the same time, we’ve been thinking just as much about what comes next and what we still want The Leather Garden to become.

Seeing the name come to life on the walls of our first store feels like a nice moment in between the two. by @theleathergarden

For Nazaara, we spent months developing the collection and thinking about how we wanted it to be seen, from the way the pieces were made to the world we built around them on set.

We like being involved in all of those parts. The clothes, the set, the flowers, the way a frame comes together, even the things that might only appear for a second. They all help tell the story of the collection.
