Letter No. 009 ✉️ Every family has a Sunday recipe. This is what it’s really for. 🥞

✉️ The letter:

From the kitchen of [Nana]

Sunday Pancakes
2 cups flour, 2 tsp baking powder, 2 eggs, a cup and a half of milk, a spoon of sugar and a pinch of patience.
We made these every Sunday so nobody skipped breakfast together. The first one always burns. Eat it anyway, and keep going.

What’s the recipe your family makes every holiday? 👇

Letter No. 010 ✉️ No phones. No GPS. Just one rule: be home when the streetlights come on. 🌆

✉️ The letter:

Dear [James],
When I was a boy, we had one rule for summer: be home when the streetlights came on. No phone, no tracking, just a whole neighborhood of kids and a sky going orange.
Find something that makes you lose track of time like that. Then come home for supper.
Love, [Granddad]

Letter No. 008 ✉️ The most valuable box in the house has no money in it. 💌

✉️ The letter:

My sweet [Emma],
Under my bed is a shoebox holding every letter your [Pops] ever wrote me. The paper is soft now, and some of the ink has faded.
I still read one on rainy days. Keep the letters people write you. Someday they’ll be your favorite thing.
With all my love, [Gigi]

Letter No. 007 ✉️ 24 pictures a roll. One week to see them. Every single one mattered. 📷

✉️ The letter:

Dear [Noah],
Our camera held 24 pictures, so we only took the ones that mattered. Then we waited a whole week for the drugstore to develop them.
Half of them came back blurry. We loved them anyway. Not everything good happens fast.
Love, [Grandpa]

Letter No. 006 ✉️ Four rules. Seventy years. One page. 📝

✉️ The letter:

Dear [Charlotte],
Call your mother. Keep your word, even when it’s hard. Save a little from every paycheck.
And when you’re angry, wait one night before you say it. Most things look smaller in the morning.
Love, [Papa]

Letter No. 005 ✉️ The best stops were never on the map. 🗺️

✍️ Copy it, swap in your names, and write it out by hand:

Hi kiddo!
No GPS back then, just a paper map that never folded back right. One summer we got lost on purpose and found the best little diner in the world.
Get lost sometimes.

Letter No. 004 ✉️ No texts. No calls. Just letters that took two weeks to arrive. ✉️

✍️ Copy it, swap in your names, and write it out by hand:

My dear [Oliver],
Your [Poppa] and I wrote letters for two whole years before we were married. Each one took two weeks to arrive, so we only wrote what mattered.
Write to the people you love. Words on paper don’t disappear.
Love always, [Nanu]

Letter No. 003 ✉️ The secret ingredient was always the kids at the counter. 🍪

✍️ Copy it, swap in your names, and write it out by hand:

From the kitchen of [Marmy]

Sugar Cookies
1 cup butter, 1 cup sugar, 1 egg, a spoon of vanilla, 3 cups flour. Bake at 350 for 8 to 10 minutes.
The secret isn’t in the dough. It’s who is standing next to you at the counter. Let the little ones crack the eggs, even if shells get in.

Letter No. 002 ✉️ The one thing every grandparent wants their grandkids to know. 💛

✍️ Copy it, swap in your names, and write it out by hand:

Dear [Olivia],
Be kind to people who can’t do anything for you. Thank the bus driver, the cook and the one who sweeps the floor.
Nobody remembers who was smartest in the room. Everybody remembers who was kind.
Love, [Mimi]

Letter No. 001 ✉️ Before group chats, there was a phone on the kitchen wall and a friend at the door. ☎️

✍️ Copy it, swap in your names, and write it out by hand:

Dear [Sarah],
Our phone hung on the kitchen wall. The cord reached just far enough to stretch into the pantry and shut the door for a little privacy.
If a friend wanted to see me, they knocked. I hope you always have friends who knock.
Love, [Pop-Pop]
