A heartfelt thank you to @canadasbest100 for including The Liberty Inn in their latest issue. As a family-run inn in the heart of Caledon, it means so much to be recognized among some of the country’s most inspiring places, makers, and hospitality leaders.

This project has been a labour of love — from hand-built tiles and stoneware crafted across the road in our ceramics studio, to the gardens we tend through all seasons, to the experiences we curate with intention and care. Every detail has been rooted in something we value deeply: connection, craft, and creating space to slow down.

To see that reflected back to us — and shared with such a wide and thoughtful audience — is incredibly meaningful.

Thank you to Canada’s 100 Best, and thank you to everyone who has stayed with us, supported us, celebrated here, or simply believed in what we’re building.

Bruno, Jacqui, Daniela & Julio by @thelibertyinn

When we first imagined The Liberty Inn, we pictured it as a place for milestones — anniversaries, proposals, “we finally made time for this,” and all the quiet in-between moments that never get posted but matter deeply.

This year, that idea stopped being ours alone.

Every guest who walked through the doors helped shape what this place has become. We’ve seen engagements, honeymoons, significant birthdays, reunions — and people who came simply because life was loud and they needed somewhere calm.

It has meant more to us than we expected.

As we head into our first Christmas here, we wanted to create something that feels just as intentional as the stays themselves.

So we made gift certificates — handwritten with your note, wax-sealed, with two Liberty Inn postcards inside, all in a thick deep-green holiday envelope.

For November and December, we’re covering shipping —
There’s no expiry and no rules attached. Just something someone can open once — and look forward to twice.

Thank you — truly — for helping this place become what we hoped it could someday be:

A home for life’s most meaningful moments.

Warmly,

Bruno, Jacqui, Daniela & Julio by @thelibertyinn

Though the gardens still have a long way to go—and will always be a bit of a never-ending project—I just want to pause and thank everyone who’s helped bring us to this point.

A space like this doesn’t happen by accident—it’s the result of so much thoughtful work.

Huge thanks to @sbk_design_studio , @kr.contracting , and @kingsgateconstruction for helping shape this space.

We are excited to keep building these gardens into something even more special—something that feels like stepping into another world. A place to slow down, breathe deeply, and be fully present in the moment.

🍂 THE OCTOBER SLIDE… ANYONE ELSE FEELING IT? 🍂

The days are getting shorter, the temperatures are dropping, and lately, I've been feeling the shift, too.

I keep reading about the "October Slide" — that feeling of being more tired, less motivated, and a little overwhelmed as we head into the colder, darker months.

Living with autoimmune disease means we can't always do what we want, when we want. Some days, our bodies have other plans. (Rude, but there it is!)

And even when we know better, it's so easy to keep pushing. Keep ticking things off the to-do list, keep showing up, keep doing ALL THE THINGS… even when we're running on empty.

Completely guilty! Currently crashing after 8 non-stop days. I'm ridiculous… I know ... and I should know better!

So, I'm reminding myself that it's okay to slow down. Not everything needs to get done today. Resting isn't being lazy, and I don't need to feel guilty for having less energy than I'd like.

Look at nature. The trees aren't desperately hanging on to every last leaf. They're letting go. Nobody's telling autumn it needs to try harder.

Some seasons are for doing more. Others are for doing less. And sometimes, we just need to give ourselves a little grace.

A reminder to myself, and perhaps to you, too: you don't have to be at your best every day to be doing your best. 🍂

...
📸 These pics are from last year, when we tried to slow down after a full year of downsizing, moving and madness! I was in a terrible flare, my skin was a mess and, and I was struggling to get answers. I was completely miserable, but this little overnight trip was beautiful. I'd love to do it all over again at @thelibertyinn — highly recommend it ... check them out! ♥

We celebrated our wedding anniversary at @thelibertyinn, and it was the perfect little getaway to slow down and spend some time together. The private Nordic spa was such a relaxing way to unwind and escape for a bit.

Save this one for your next weekend getaway. 🤎

I don’t think you understand how beautiful the gardens are @thelibertyinn by @thelibertyinn

I didn’t realize how tired I was until I stopped for a whole week.

So I spent the last days of summer at the Liberty Inn with one rule: do less.
A limited itinerary, no rushing, just slow mornings, long quiet afternoons, and saying yes to whatever felt restful.

What rest looked like this week:
☕ coffee and reading in the breakfast nook
🌿 wandering the garden with no plan
♨️ the nordic spa, every single day
🎨 an afternoon with an artist at @alton.mill
🛶 kayaking the Island Lake Conservation Area
🥾 hiking the Bruce Trail & exploring the Mono Cliffs

I came home with a full notebook, half a book read and a reset nervous system.

Save this for when you need permission to slow down, and send it to someone who deserves a restful week like this. by @thelibertyinn

save this for your next ontario staycation + if you’re looking for somewhere that’s dog-friendly!! 🤍

we had the most restful stay at @thelibertyinn. as an avid spa goer, i was genuinely so happy to find out that their nordic spa is dog-friendly! 🐶 it’s also completely private since you book a 1-hour time slot exclusively for your stay.

this was honestly one of the highlights of our trip. relaxing in the finnish saunas, hot tub + cold plunge outdoors surrounded by nature was so peaceful, recharging and genuinely healing. 🌿

the liberty inn itself was decorated so beautifully, with every little detail thoughtfully considered. from the handmade ceramics we used while cooking (each stay comes with a fully stocked fridge to make your breakfast with home made croissants, butter/jam, farm fresh eggs, milk & fresh fruit), to the red light led masks and in-suite spa amenities like the steam room.

the property is also absolutely stunning, and their garden was so beautifully maintained with the prettiest, most curated flowers. 🌸

honestly, one of the best places we’ve ever stayed, and i cannot recommend it enough. if you’re looking for a dog-friendly ontario getaway, this one needs to be on your list 🤍 thank you again @thelibertyinn for hosting us!
