My second @aew match was an absolute banger.
.
The card was largely unannounced until go-time, and I wrongly figured the bulk of the roster would still be in CDMX after Grand Slam Mexico. As every matchup was announced live, though, I quickly realized we were in for many thrills, chills, feats, and treats!
.
The Denver show - during with my favorite tagteam crashed into my chair - set the bar high, but WOAHDANG did Collision with @gabeson and @tonyvaz92 hit the same highs. Turns out all it took to turn me into a Lio Rush stan was to see him live. 🤣

Sometimes #WorkoutWednesday is about #compromiseformation. Between heatwaves, wildfire smoke, and SNRI fatigue, this has been a rough summer for cycling. It’s, frankly, been a stone-cold (ironically) bummer; I really rely on cycling as a way to feel at home in Denver, and to keep my emotions regulated (which, given everything going on in the US, has been more necessary than ever).
.
However! The good news is that needing less cycling recovery time (because of, well, less time in the saddle) has meant weightlifting has been going oddly well for a change! I’ve made some friendly acquaintance with other regulars, and I’ve found some helpful ways to switch things up.
.
Folding in dropsets has made a big difference, and over the last month I hit 45 PR’s. Having convinced myself that the lifting plateau was simply The Way Things Would Be after 41, I’m really glad to be wrong.
.
With a little luck I’ll be able to turn fall into a make-up season for cycling, and with even more luck we’ll be in for an actual winter this year so that I can get serious on the turbo trainer in time for next spring.

New medication isn't playing well with the heat, so I'm doing my best to get out early and, more importantly, be patient with my body until I find a good alternative. Solstice Century was a blast, starting with an early morning City Ride through Denver and over to Golden, and wrapping up with a nice, steady climb on the east side of Aurora and Ye Olde Classic loop around the Cherry Creek Reservoir. No planned routes, just lots of hoots. Definitely my new favorite way to ring in the summer.
