I loved being part of the latest episode of Courageously Me with @iamkimpayne because she didn’t shy away from the hard questions. We really covered some interesting, juicy ground.
Thank you Kim!

Part two of my amazing conversation with author Lisa Fitzpatrick @sexy.menopause… all about pleasure tools and pelvic play 🤍

But she gave me one parting piece of advice which hit hard...
Show up with your full presence. Leave the resentments at the door, look your partner in the eye, and give them your whole attention.

As Lisa explains, our nervous system can sense when we’re with a safe person. That feeling of calm helps us open up and connect.

Then get curious and stay playful 😉

Hear our full conversation on how to get your s*xlife out of a rut on the Healthy Her podcast.

Reading Lisa’s Sexy Menopause has been one of the most inspiring experiences I’ve had with a modern book.

As a man, it has not only helped me navigate my own life challenges, but has also deepened my understanding, appreciation and respect for women, and the many challenges they face throughout their lives.

One of the most profound lessons I’ve taken from Lisa’s work is the invitation to use whatever circumstances life brings our way, no matter how extreme or challenging, as a catalyst for awakening, self-discovery and personal growth.

This is a truly empowering perspective, and one I will carry with me long after reading the book.
- Ali Grace

I honour and give thanks to the men who have engaged so honourably with this book.

‘When sexy means choosing the garden’ 🪴- a new blog by @radapriya
‘Lisa’s ideas about the spiritual and psychological possibilities of menopause remain connected to anatomy, hormones, tissue, pain and the accounts of women she meets in her consulting room.

She does not ask the body to disappear so that the spiritual message can sound more beautiful.

That matters to someone like me.’

It wasn’t until my publisher Natasha Gilmour @the_kind_press suggested that we consider the men to be an important part of the Sexy Menopause readership community - that it became clear how much men need support too. Too many men are struggling to understand their partner’s transformation and symptoms in midlife. We certainly don’t want good men to suffer. And we know that relationships can be placed under a lot of strain at this time, which is why separation and divorce rates are at their highest in the 45-55 age group. And if we are struggling to understand our own transformation it’s easy to see how confusing it must be for our menfolk. One of the highlights of my role in pelvic and sexual health is seeing couples thrive and understand each other in deeper ways as they courageously address their intimacy challenges.

Please consider placing an order at your local bookstore for a copy of Sexy Menopause. Available at all good online bookstores and making its way to women in midlife and the men who love them!

Latest article in Muse
It’s interesting how often women’s bodies are blamed for certain symptoms that are more related to outside influences than internal biological causation.
Bodies are intelligent and pelvic floors are one of the most truthful areas of the body in midlife

It’s launch day and my heart is bursting.
Happy Birthday to ‘Sexy Menopause - The New Science and Soul of Midlife Desire’.
She is now available in paperback at all good bookstores.
If you placed a pre-order, she will be due to drop in your letterbox today.
My prayer is that this book gives many women (and the ones who love them) hope, support, healing and inspiration as they cross the midlife thresholds.
It takes a team to create a book and a movement. I am beyond grateful for the wonderful support I’ve had to birth this book baby. To Erin Huckle from Chuckle Communications and Natasha Gilmour from The Kind Press. To my beautiful patients, friends and community. To my supportive sons and family. To the early readers and everyone who has supported this missive. Thank you beyond measure.

Back cover - ‘Fractured, exhausted, irritable as hell. Over 1 billion women around the globe are navigating menopause. Many are sexually active, yet their deeper desirous nature is barely represented in mainstream media. They feel misunderstood and invisible. I don’t feel like myself. My libido has disappeared. Why does sex feel different? Women who have never been given permission to understand ageing with agency.

Sexy Menopause is a holy disruption of everything women were taught to believe about desire, ageing and worth.

Drawing on decades of experience as a physiotherapist and pelvic and sexual health educator, and her own initiation through menopause and betrayal, Lisa Fitzpatrick blends storytelling, clinical insight, and evidence-based pelvic wisdom to help women navigate the biological event and spiritual threshold of midlife.

This book is a radical reframe of menopause as an erotic, psychological and spiritual awakening. Women deserve to feel sacred and undeniably sexy.’

A portal
A new beginning
In a world that loves to control and predict and scientifically prove everything, a woman’s subjective experience, cyclic nature and magic has been subjugated.
Midlife represents an opportunity to reclaim and heal what was unconsciously repressed.
It’s not always neat and it’s not always pretty.
It’s seismic and transformative and affirmative.
Gen X women - you got this 🙏🏽

There’s one more sleep until launch and it’s been a long road to get here. It’s taken 33 years of working closely with women, of learning and practicing therapeutic support and safety for the body and psyche. It’s taken so much wrestling with my philosophical beliefs and so many conversations with God. It’s taken a trillion prayers. It’s taken surviving heartbreak and wondering how I could go on. It’s taken facing down every demon, sitting with my trauma and shadows and remaining faithful to the call of the divine. Thank you to everyone who has played a part in this missive. This is a humbling and sincere attempt by a writer to make things right.

‘A handbook for the soul for women who feel like they have lost their way, Lisa Fitzpatrick’s Sexy Menopause is a passionate call for midlife women to embrace their shifting bodies with love and reverence. Thanks to the wisdom and compassion overflowing from its pages, Sexy Menopause affirms we are not broken; we just need to recalibrate and authentically claim this exciting phase of our lives. Fitzpatrick generously shares her decades of experience as a pelvic floor physiotherapist and women’s yoga teacher, along with her own story of recovering from menopausal breakdown, to offer an inspiring and life-affirming love letter to the feminine. This beautiful book is rich with practical and spiritual guidance on how to realign our sexuality and vitality as we blossom into the second spring of our lives. Fitzpatrick is a powerful new feminist voice of our age.’
