What a fantastic day presenting “Business Class to First Class” to the ladies and gentlemen at Bella Collina last week! They were such wonderful hosts, asked many insightful questions, and I look forward to returning in August for added enrichment.

The “Shopping Cart Theory” suggests that a person’s willingness to return their shopping cart is a test of moral character and reflects their level of consideration for others.

Since there is no penalty for not returning it, the theory states that returning a cart shows a willingness to do the right thing without external pressure.

What do you think about this? Do you return your cart? Do you think small actions like this add up to a kinder society?

You know, all these years behind the camera and I still get teary-eyed witnessing certain moments throughout a wedding weekend. E stood in her parent’s bedroom as she stepped into her @lelarosebridal gown. The same room she prepped in for her prom and special occasions before. A place where photos of her and her siblings throughout their childhood filled empty walls and shelves. *Cue the tears* what a sweet memory to make as her parents looked on and she gazed out the window admiring the sunny weather. She would go on to fill her morning creating new memories in a mix of both new and familiar places. Her childhood backyard, amongst the trees of her venue’s property and a hand in hand with those she cherishes most.

I live for my slow morning routine and these are my absolute essentials.

If you watch my YouTube channel or are subscribed to Sunday Musings, you have certainly heard my wax lyrical about most of these.

The @burburcare boat bristle brush has been a game changer for my hair care, and pulling it back into a hairpin makes me feel like a chic French woman.

Followed by my favorite @aleaviaskincare cleanser and oil before a misting of @caudalieus and layer of @elizabetharden cream.

And lest we forget the most crucial step of all- and we both know my esthetician Marcella of @nonsurgical_youth would never let me!- my holy grail sunscreen @aveneusa!!

A cake cutting 26 years in the making! Emma’s mother, Beth, saw the perfect wedding cake in a magazine, saved the page, and held onto it for two and a half decades, waiting for her daughter’s special day.

When Emma’s wedding day arrived, @morganhunterdesserts recreated the five-tier, blue and white fondant cake detail by detail. Swipe to see the original!

Inspired by my summer reads, I thought it high time to share some other favorite books… Cookbooks that is! In addition to all of the delicious recipes they offer, I often pull them out just to look at the gorgeous food photography and feel inspired.

It’s no secret that I love to cook, and while I am a pescatarian, when I cook for my family or entertain, I will incorporate meat from time to time, but I tend to save that task for Mr. Lyons, who is an absolute master at it!

I have three tried-and-true cookbooks that I revisit and have made recipes from over and over, and a couple of them are 20+ years old! And then there is a new one in the rotation that I already find myself reaching for again and again! *wink taken in Orlando, Florida by @thelisalyons

A reception inspired by a family’s stylistic sensibility. Emma’s mother, Beth, has an exquisite collection of chinoiserie at their home, so when designing the reception, a blue and white palette resonated with the whole family. Even the wedding cake was designed after an image Beth had cut and saved from Martha Stewart Magazine 26 years ago!

From the custom lattice installation covered in climbing blue hydrangeas to the powder blue checkerboard dance floor, every detail felt true to form.

The dress code series continues with Formal Attire! Formal sits just below Black Tie, which means you have a little more room to play with hem lengths (though they should always fall below the knee for this dress code), dressy separates, luxurious fabrics, and yes, still a wonderful excuse to wear your best jewelry!

One important note: Black Tie Optional, though often cited on invitations, is not a real dress code. There is Black Tie and there is Formal. If you receive an invitation for a Black Tie Optional wedding, treat it as Formal Attire and dress accordingly.

Brides and grooms-to-be: take note when choosing a dress code and sending invitations! *wink
