Starting a series where I’m sharing easy design tips that often become afterthoughts when homeowners take on a project. Ever notice how clutter-free those expensive, luxurious homes appear to be? It’s because they put careful thought into how they live in those spaces and how they want them to work. Adding in concealed storage doesn’t have to be expensive and it makes a huge impact on your mental health when you can hide away visual clutter and keep it organized. Save this post for inspo and follow along for part 2.

Timeless home design , smart renovation ideas by @thelivedinlook

My goal for this account has always been to inspire others by providing practical tips and real life renovation experiences so others can learn from us, even if it means learning from my mistakes. And this is a paint headache I feel a lot of us can relate to. So straight to the point, here’s what you gotta do!:

- I do not care what the representative at the paint counter tells you, anything other than flat is a no-go when rolling dark moody colors. I’m not talking the new trendy “matte” sheens either. You want good ole fashioned flat, like you’d put on the ceiling.

- get yourself a microfiber roller cover for the smoothest cleanest finish. It’s worth it I promise.

- while you’re at it, grab an extension pole for your roller, the job will go so much faster and you’re less likely to pause painting which can cause those dry lap marks to show up

- long vertical rolls all the way down from floor to ceiling or vice/versa. None of those small sections at a time jobs, it’ll look like a patchwork quilt if you do 👎

- this is a big one! You have to maintain a wet edge and the best way I can explain how to achieve this is that whenever you’re ready to reload your roller with paint, start your next section slightly past where you just rolled and roll backwards into that area. It keeps everything wet for more even drying and prevents heavy paint marks from rolling fresh paint on top of your last run.

- cutting in is a must. Do it first and you’ll be just fine

#ad 🙌🏻 where has this zero clearance fridge been all my life?!! I ordered this new Samsung Bespoke AI Counter depth model from @loweshomeimprovement when our ice maker gave out on our old one and I’m so glad I did! We gained about 6 inches from where our old bulky model stuck out. It has a more built in look and a water dispenser inside. It has more storage and is so much easier to clean. Don’t sleep on it! The shades were what was missing! This is a gorgeous 🤌🏻 transitional chandelier but I think topping the bulbs off gives it a more traditional vibe and makes it pop in this two story room. What’s your vote?

Comment below and I’ll send you the links to both the chandelier and the shades! by @thelivedinlook

@joannagaines newest collection with @loloirugs included these sweet little Meredith pillows in multiple colors but I had to have the light blue and ivory for my girl’s bow bedroom 😍. Links are in my stories and my Amazon shop.
