Some of India’s most recognisable brand identities were built without a logo. They were built through sound.

Indian trucks made musical horns part of the highway experience, turning a practical signal into something instantly recognisable. Today, BMW is applying the same principle to electric cars, working with Hans Zimmer to create sounds for an otherwise quiet driving experience.

The principle is the same. Recognition doesn’t always have to be visual. Sometimes, the strongest brand identities are the ones you can hear. by @thelobbyreport

Dining is becoming about more than what is on the plate. It is increasingly about who sits across the table.

At Jnane Tamsna in Marrakech, a communal sit-down dinner became an experience in its own right, with an atmosphere that felt straight out of a film. It reflects a wider shift in hospitality, where the setting and the people around the table are becoming as important as the food itself.

As everyday interactions become more fragmented, communal dining offers something increasingly valuable: the opportunity to slow down, share a meal and connect with others. by @thelobbyreport

Mayfair has spent nearly 300 years building something money alone cannot recreate: context.

That is what makes No.1 Grosvenor Square more than just a luxury residential address. From the US Embassy to the Canadian High Commission, the address already had a history before Lodha began its next chapter.

And that may explain why luxury is increasingly returning to buildings with a past.

Comment MAYFAIR and we’ll send you four more historic addresses to know in the neighbourhood. by @thelobbyreport

Travel used to be about the experience of being somewhere. Now, increasingly, it is also about having something to show for it. The airport lounge becomes content, the hotel becomes a backdrop, and certain destinations become recognisable through the images associated with them. That changes the trip itself. We start choosing places not only for how they feel, but for how they will look. And perhaps the ultimate luxury is taking a holiday you never feel the need to prove you took.

Save this for the next time a holiday starts feeling more like content than escape. by @thelobbyreport

The smartest part of The Hoxton and Lacoste collaboration is that it doesn’t just place fashion inside a hotel. It makes the hotel stay part of the fashion experience.

The seven-piece Lacoste capsule is available through in-room dining, so you discover it where you would normally order dinner, choose from a menu and have it delivered to your door. Even Michael McGregor’s artwork draws from the familiar details of hotel life, from notepads and menus to room service.

It is a collaboration where the product, place, artist and ritual all tell the same story. by @thelobbyreport

Meet our next Lobby Insider, @raghavendra.rathore

For years, Indian luxury has been discussed through the lens of fashion.

But Rathore has built something broader: a world around Indian craftsmanship, bringing together bespoke tailoring, education and design. In this edition of The Lobby Insiders, Rathore explains why building a lasting luxury house takes more than a strong product or just visibility. The real measure is whether it can last for decades.

He is not building for one moment of recognition, he is building the foundation for what Indian luxury can become. by @thelobbyreport

The best sports clubs don’t just give people a place to play. They give them a reason to come back.

@cocopadel_goa built that reason through community. Its tournaments felt more like family gatherings than competitions, with founders refereeing, friends handing out trophies, and players staying back long after the game.

Soon, people were travelling from Bangalore, Chennai and Mumbai for the feeling around the court.

The court was the excuse. The community was the reason to return. by @thelobbyreport

The way we spend is changing. When big purchases feel harder to justify, smaller indulgences start to carry more weight. This is the Lipstick Effect: when uncertainty rises, people may pull back on big-ticket spending while still making room for affordable luxuries.

But today, the little reward has moved beyond lipstick. It is the coffee after a difficult meeting, the matcha after a workout, the pastry on the way home. We are no longer waiting for a big occasion to reward ourselves.

The smartest thing La Guérite did was turn the restaurant into a battleground.

By 4PM, champagne starts flowing, flags go up and tables start competing over who can make the biggest display. The flags show where people are from, but they also make spending visible. The more bottles, the bigger the signal.

The insight is simple, La Guérite understood that people weren’t just coming to eat. They were coming to be seen. by @thelobbyreport

The new status symbol for the world’s richest people may not be another penthouse. It may be land.

As access to almost everything becomes easier, aspiration is moving towards what feels harder to buy: space, time, nature and the freedom to live at a slower pace. Hospitality is already reflecting the shift, with places like Borgo Santo Pietro and Daylesford making the farm part of the experience.

The new luxury isn’t having more. It’s having time. by @thelobbyreport

Mexico is yellow. Japan is neon. Eastern Europe is grey. Not because those places actually look that way, but because cinema taught us to see them through a particular colour.

Traffic used colour to help audiences move between three parallel stories. Filmmakers kept using the device until the colour became a cultural shorthand.

For brands, colour can do more than set a mood. It can build memory. by @thelobbyreport

At one of India’s first natural medicine clinics, the kitchen has one rule. Nothing gets cooked.

@prakritishakti_cghearth sits 2,500 feet up in Kerala’s Panchalimedu hills, and its entire kitchen is fireless. Hot chocolate made from cashews and raw cacao grown on their own farms. No-bake pizza, layered with vegetables and raw sauces. Everything raw, all of it plated like a gourmet menu.

The therapies follow the same logic. Honey, coconut oil and Epsom salts layered onto the body, then wrapped in banana leaves and left to soak in the sun.

Most wellness properties use nature as the backdrop. The forest is the view, the hills are the setting, and the treatment happens indoors. Here it is inverted. Nature is not the setting. It is the prescription. by @thelobbyreport
