More than ever our local wineries need our loving support.

Here are a couple of quotes from winery owners from the area affected.

“Summer is usually peak season for wine tourism in Summerland and wineries in town have been temporarily closed, while road closures and smoke are turning visitors away.”

“A tourism season is four months — June, July, August, September. That is our prime month. That’s where we make 80 per cent of our income in those months, and now we’ve been shut in the middle of August, so we’re still not back to the property.”

“The rest of August will probably be a wash, and then with the provincial evacuation order and the state of emergency, I don’t think there’s any tourism that’s going to come now. Certainly not while the fires are still burning.”

The best thing anyone can do for these wineries is support them by going out and purchasing a bottle of wine.

Sometimes you just need to have a selfie, especially when feeling happy 😊

A client of mine of 9 years or so came in to tell me that his partner had passed away a few weeks ago. He said I deeply touched his life. He was always so excited to see me anytime he needed to make a trip to the store. And he appreciated how I always took the time to really engage in conversation with them. It brought me so much joy to hear such kind words I started to tear up and asked if I could give him a hug.

What I realized is you really learn so much from other people, even if you don’t truly know them. If I touched this one pair through interaction and conversation over 9 years, how many others have I touched over the 15 years of doing my job? Or even just the first 5 mins of meeting someone. It really does ring true, first impressions do mean a lot.

Be kind to one another. It feels good hearing a happy story 🤍

Happy Anniversary to the love of my life, my rock and my best friend. I love you so much. 15years married — wowza. Bring on more because they only get better as our life goes on together. Love you forever and always 🩷
We took a getaway to the Okanagan this past weekend. It was very special - especially the wine 😉

We arrive in Ktown after a quick interrupted cat nap on our flight with @pacificcoastalair get our rental and zip into downtown. The weather was glorious and we found a brunch spot along the water..within moments a mimosa in hand.

Wine time -
@martinslanewinery took us in as the first stop...the first sting to the ‘ol cash purse. If you don’t know anything about this winery just imagine state of the art architectural design. And, very good wine. They only produce Riesling and Bourgogne-style Pinot noir here…I was easily eager for them to welcome us.

Second up, @cedarcreekwine . We enjoyed a delicious paired lunch with a beautiful vista followed by a tasting.

For dinner, @quailsgate post premium tasting, of course. Our hostess and sommelier, Katrin was so kind and very generous. The meal was fantastic with fresh shucked oysters to start things off .. perfect.

After checking out, we visited @mtboucheriewine first, followed by @missionhillwinery . We enjoyed wine at different spots thru out the winery and cellar then finished off the final tasting with the ‘22 Oculus vs. a magnum of ‘17. Great comparison!

The rest of the trip was enjoyed in the Naramata also eating good food, beautiful vistas and enjoying more wine. A definite highlight was the BnB in the hills called @staybialto. We highly recommend the stay here!

A second highlight would have to be @code.wines. If you don’t know about this winery starts running. What Shay and his crew are doing here is outstanding work. The wines are created with passion and integrity. Bourgogne influenced whites and reds and northern rhone inspired Syrah. Can’t wait for the shipment to arrive!

Good thing for hard shell suitcases and bottle wraps .. just saying 🍷❤️

So far my favourite topic in WSET2 Spirits to teach

I’ve recently taken on a new role (on top of my longstanding role) with @bcliquorstores as a WSET Facilitator. We recently completed the wines portion in March and have now moved on to spirits.

Each course serving 60+ students!! Love to see so many eager beavers willing to learn.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this experience so special. Your energy, support, and love for agave spirits and Mexican culture mean the world to us.

From start to finish, Victoria you came out in numbers. It didn’t matter if you were younger or older, everyone had something in common - the love for agave.

It meant so much to us to see the smiles on everyone’s faces as they tasted so many great producers tequila and Mezcal made from their heart and soul.

The food added to the flavour and the scene while the music and dance brought all the vibe together.

You seriously could not top the evening!
