SHINY NEW STARS - LS Productions played host to the first-ever Scotland and the North Shiny Showcase last Thursday, and boy, did our local talent come out in force. With Shiny offering a route into the industry for new and underrepresented talent, it was inspiring to see the work of bold and authentic new voices, reflecting the distinct regional identities of Scotland and the North.The evening featured a curated selection of short-form work from emerging directors across a range of genres, including commercials, music videos, spec ads, documentary, drama, and animation. All films screened were under five minutes and selected for their originality, craft, and creative voice.Here’s a list of all the winners, sponsors and prizes:🌟 Alia Ghafar - Short Film ‘Hen Do’ - Prize from LS Productions - Career mentoring meeting with Kojo Abban🌟 Stuart Armstrong - Short Film ‘LAY-BY’ - Prize from Creative Outpost - Free Colour Grade🌟 Iain Simpson - Tunnocks ‘What’s Your Excuse’ - Prize from the Berry - Career Mentoring with Andy Daly🌟 Kate Hammer - BBC Short Stuff ‘Bike Lane Austen’ - Prize from Global Production Network - Representation. TRAINSPOTTING IS 30: When Irvine Welsh wrote Trainspotting he unleashed a lightning bolt of a novel that struck the mainstream and redefined British culture. When that vision hit the big screen, courtesy of Director Danny Boyle in ‘96, it changed cinema forever.Fast forward to last August, and we got to play a small part in that story when LS Films released our first original feature documentary, Irvine Welsh: Reality Is Not Enough, which had the honor of closing the Edinburgh International Film Festival. New Work - Bring it Home - A Short Documentary for AirBnBCan’t stop watching the Winter Olympics? Do you know your Speed Skating from your Figure Skating?If you’ve caught the Winter Olympics bug this February, then now is the perfect time to share with you our latest work as part of @airbnb ’s wonderful new ‘Bring it Home’ campaign.Directed by Walter Thompson-Hernandéz for Reverie Content, Bring It Home is a short documentary for Air BnB, following six Olympic and Paralympic athletes as they train, travel, and compete around the world on the road to the @milanocortina2026 Olympics.We absolutely loved producing the UK element of the film at home in Scotland, an intimate yet powerful portrait of the inspirational wheelchair curling Paralympic athlete Joanna Butterfield MBE, touching upon her injury, her motivation and ultimately her story.Shot in Renfrew, LS delivered all locations, crew and art department needs for this portion of the film.Big thanks to AirBnB and the Reverie Content team, the crew and everyone involved in bringing this brilliant piece of work to the screen.Good luck Joanna in your first Winter Paralympics, which kick off in early March.The full trailer is available on the LS website.Planning your next branded content film and need a production partner who knows the ropes?
