We enjoyed a night in Paradise, MT at the beautiful Quinn’s Hot Springs! It was so nice to be in the middle of nowhere, in quiet and nature! Highly recommend it and can’t wait to go back!

🇧🇼 Happy Independence Day to the beautiful country and people of Botswana! 🇧🇼

Feeling incredibly grateful for the 2 opportunities, so far, that we have had to explore what this country has to offer! The untouched lands of the Okavango Delta, watching in absolute awe and wonder the wildlife in their natural habitat, to the beautiful people that we encountered along the way! Truly, so special! Highly encourage you to visit this spectacular land and unplug from our unnatural world and get in to the true power of nature! Your life will be better for it!

Also, happy anniversary to us being surrounded by a pack of around 20 hyenas and having them steal the Botswana flag we had flying on our cruiser! The videos are hilarious! 😆

✨ Hippos ✨

Dear lord are these massive animals intimidating! They are considered the deadliest large land animal and can run around 19mph!

We saw so many of them on our trip! The 2nd video will give you an idea of how intimidating and scary they can be! Sorry for the language and bouncy video! 😂 The first 6 pictures were of a hippo who had been attacked by a lion. You can see the scratches and marks on his body! He was pissed when we drove by and started to come out of the water! 😱 Thankfully, he stopped and per our guide, he wouldn’t have come any further since he would have exposed himself to predators and was already vulnerable after the lion attack! But it still got my heart rate going! 😜

✨ Belize ✨

What a beautiful, relaxing week on Ambergris Caye, Belize!

15 minute flight from Belize City and you land into an island with 15,000 golf carts, the main mode of transportation! We stayed at the beautiful @alaiabelize, a Marriott property! Highly recommend! The hotel was beautiful, food was excellent and staff was so friendly!

We rented a golf cart for the week, so we bopped around the island, hitting up the local coffee shops, restaurants and bars. We did a sunset boat cruise one night that was wonderful; super fun to get on the water and to go out less than 3 miles to the 2nd largest reef in the world!

All in all, it was one of the most relaxing vacations we have had. In bed most nights by 9pm, and up with the sun, feeling super rested each day!

We will definitely be back!

✨ Plein Air Artist in the Bush ✨

Taking a break from animal pictures to spotlight our amazingly talented friend, @allison_laupp_artist! This specific safari trip was a surprise for Allison’s 40th birthday! She is the sweetest, kindest soul and an incredibly talented and award winning Plein Air artist! Her dream for this trip was to be able to set up her easel and paint an African bush landscape! Wow, did she have an epic spot on our last full day!

We stopped off for breakfast in this beautiful spot in the Khwai Private Reserve and she was able to paint for an hour! She had spectators watching in the 2 ginormous hippos to the right of her! What an incredible experience to watch her do the thing she loves so much!

✨ Final day with our Lion Pride ✨

The morning we were leaving Tuludi, we got up early to get one final game drive in. We came upon our pride of nine from the night before! They were on a hunt!! So exciting! We followed them for an hour as they plotted and moved very meticulously to surround a herd of Buffalo.

They were unsuccessful as it was a huge herd, but witnessing their stealthy maneuvers and communication between each other was so special! Also, seeing a lion in a tree was something I was not anticipating!

Check out the videos to get an idea of how close we get to the animals. People often ask, aren’t you scared they are going to attack?! Our guides are so educated, they know the behaviors of the animals and know when it’s safe and when we need to back off. We never once felt unsafe! (Ok, maybe a little bit the night of the hyenas, but our guide was not scared in the least)!

Such a special last day! ❤️

✨ Lions & Lionesses of Tuludi ✨

Up until our last full day of Safari we had yet to see a lioness. Low and behold, we came upon a pride of 9 just before sunset! To say it was magical to sit and observe their playfulness and laziness, is an understatement!

We caught them several times greeting each other, rubbing their heads together and then gliding down the sides of their bodies, which usually ended with them play wrestling! 🤩

✨ A Night w/ Hyenas ✨

What a final night this was at our first lodge, North Island! We had seen a dead buffalo earlier in the day and our guide, Costa, said we would go for a night drive that evening and check out the hyenas, who were sure to be at the carcass.

We ventured out around 9:30pm, with our guide telling us we would be out for about an hour. Well, an hour turned into 2 1/2 hours! We came upon about 20 hyenas who were feasting on the remains of the buffalo.

These hyenas were very inquisitive! The night we went out was Botswana’s Independence Day, so we had a small flag on our cruiser! The hyenas were very intrigued by this thing blowing around! As they circled our cruiser, my heart rate started rising! Our guide was not bothered, however, as the guides know the behavior of these animals and can decipher when we are in danger! According to him, we were not in any danger and to be truthful, he was having the time of his life, as hyenas are his favorite animal!

It was a heart raising evening and one we will never forget!

P.S. they did eventually drop the flag and moved away and our guide got out and picked it up! 🤯

✨ Cheetahs ✨

Our first cheetah sighting on a safari and it was as magical as expected! Upon arriving at our second lodge, our guide asked what we were really hoping to see. We said, lionesses, wild dogs and cheetahs! We mentioned we saw the lodge post that cheetahs had been in the area the day before we arrived! He said he would do his best!

Fast forward 20 minutes, and we were driving up to view this momma cheetah and her 3 month old cub! WOW WOW WOW! What a stunner! They are even more beautiful in person! We admired her for quite awhile. Some others at our lodge informed us that we missed her run for a hunt about 30 minutes before we arrived! Dang, we were bummed but so thankful we had the opportunity to observe both momma and cub! What a treat!

✨ Ellie’s of Tuludi - Part 2 ✨

Putting some goodness into the world today!

Check out this beauty! Watching this Ellie dig into the dirt to gather the nutritious grass below was something truly remarkable! Such a smart animal and it was such a great morning watching him.

Finishing off our Ellie’s with a few babies we came across in the afternoon. The ones trunk was injured so you can see how much shorter it is in the picture!

As I said before, I will never get over the beauty, grace and majestic nature of these big beautiful creatures!
