You asked me how I bring Room on the Broom to life... here’s the magic behind my storytelling sessions! 🪄🧙‍♀️”

Here is my step-by-step approach to turning a simple picture book into an unforgettable, immersive experience for kids:

1️⃣ The Cauldron Reveal: Before opening the book, I pull flashcards straight out of a magical cauldron! This helps children get familiar with the key vocabulary they’ll encounter in the story. 🪄📖

2️⃣ Interactive Play: We play quick, interactive guessing games where every child gets to participate and use the new words before we even start reading. It builds anticipation and confidence! 🗣️✨

3️⃣ Theatrical Storytelling (TPR & Magic): I read the story in a wildly theatrical, exaggerated way using Total Physical Response (TPR). Paired with oversized, handmade props and twinkling fairy lights, I want to make the whole experience feel like pure magic! 🌟🧹

4️⃣ Role-Play & Retelling: After the story, it’s the kids’ turn to shine! They dress up in costumes and retell the story themselves through mini-theater. Watching them step into the characters is the best part! 👑🐱🐶🐸
Teaching through play and imagination is where the real magic happens. 💛

For my little students I used the easy version of Room on the broom created by this amazing teacher @kidsclubenglish , she always creates incredible resources for teachers 🥰

👻 Peek-a-boo… who’s knocking at the door? 🎃👇
Here is a super simple, rhythmic Halloween chant to practice vocabulary with toddlers and young learners! 🎨✂️
Using a cardboard box with colorful windows and a magic door, a new spooky friend pops out every single time!

🎵 THE HALLOWEEN CHANT 🎵

🏰 Haunted house, roof to floor,
🚪 Who’s knocking at the door?
👻 Spooky here, spooky there,
🧙‍♀️ Open the door if you dare!

1️⃣ Repetition & Rhythm: The catchy rhyme makes it super easy for kids to memorize.
2️⃣ Element of Surprise: Opening the door keeps little ones completely engaged!

Back to school ? 🎒

Do you need an easy chant to start your lesson with some giggles?🥰😅

This is for you ❣️

Ask your students if they want to do the chant :
FAST , SLOW , LOUD, QUIET , BIG or TINY ⚡️

They learn the opposites , the chant , they learn to say “nice to meet you “ and you break the ice 🥶🧊

Enjoy ! 💝

Bringing stories to life, one piece of recycled cardboard at a time! 🧙‍♀️✨
I spent hours cutting, hand-painting, and creating these interactive props for Room on the Broom—even hanging a broom from the ceiling! But every single second was completely worth it.
Here’s why I love creating custom props for my English lessons:
✨ 100% Interactive: Made with recycled cardboard, felt, and velcro, these props let kids touch, move, and play along with the story.
✨ Zero Translation Needed: Visual, tactile props make the context so clear that children naturally absorb the English vocabulary without needing a single word translated into Italian.
✨ Pure Magic: Watching their eyes light up and seeing them completely immersed in the story is the ultimate reward for all the hard work.
Teaching English isn’t just about words; it’s about creating unforgettable experiences. ❤️

A magical, sensory way to learn forest animals! 🍃👣👇
Turn a simple wooden stick with green ribbon streamers into a forest for little language learners! 🎋✨
Using movement, rhythm, and active storytelling helps young kids:
🎶 Internalize language through rhythm & repetition (TPR approach)
🦉 Learn forest animal vocabulary through visual cueing & surprise
🌿 Engage their senses and spatial awareness as they walk through the “forest”
📜 The Chant Text (Save this!)

🌲 Walking in the forest, walking in the forest,
We are NOT afraid, we are NOT afraid!
🐾 One step, two steps, three steps... STOP!
(Peek through the ribbons)
Look! What’s hiding in the trees? It’s a... [FOX / OWL / BEAR / SQUIRREL]! 🦊🦉

🍃 How to play:
1. Hold the ribbon stick up high or spin slowly as kids chant and walk in a circle.
2. Freeze on STOP! and reveal a forest animal puppet/toy through the green streamers.
3. Let the children step through the ribbon forest themselves to become part of the adventure!

💡 Save this reel for your next autumn language lesson or play routine!

✨ “Teacher, can we make a potion today?” 🧙‍♀️✨
Every year when Halloween rolls around, this is the #1 activity my students beg for! 🎃

Potion making is pure magic in the classroom (and at home!), but it’s so much more than just spooky fun. It’s a sensory-rich learning experience where children naturally pick up language through touch, sight, sound, and movement. 🧪👀🖐️

It’s packed with high-frequency action verbs like pour, stir, scoop, fizz, drop, and mix—making target vocabulary stick effortlessly because they are experiencing it through all their senses!

That “WOW” moment when the potion fizzes? Unforgettable. 🪄💥
The best part? You don’t need fancy props! All the ingredients are super simple items you already have hiding in your kitchen cupboards !

“I’m going to turn on the wind...” 💨✨

Teaching weather words or abstract concepts to young English learners can be tricky, especially when you want to avoid translating into Italian.

During our reading of Room on the Broom — right at the part where the wind blows away the witch’s hat, bow, and wand — I needed a way to make “WIND” completely unmissable.
So, I brought in a real fan. 🌪️

The moment the breeze hit the room, over 10 kids went dead silent. Their eyes lit up, they laughed, and they instantly connected the physical sensation of the air to the word wind — zero translation needed, just 100% immersive magic. 🧙‍♀️🧹

TPR (Total Physical Response) and sensory props aren’t just fun tricks; they build long-term memory connections that traditional flashcards just can’t match.

How do you bring storybook vocabulary to life in your classroom? Let me know below! 👇

Who says Halloween has to be scary for little ones? 🎃✨
You don’t need ghosts or monsters to celebrate! All it takes is a broom, a hair dryer turned into a gentle autumn breeze, and a burst of fall colors 🍂🧹
Watch how simple colorful scarves and a bit of “wind” can turn Halloween into a magical, color-learning moment for toddlers.
Save this easy, playful idea for your autumn activities! 🍁💨
