I keep coming back to this.

Maybe we don’t always need more tools, routines, supplements, podcasts, morning practices or things to work on.

Maybe sometimes we just need less.

Less pressure.
Less rushing.
Less trying to hold everything together all the time.

More sleep. More space. More time with people you can be completely yourself around.

More moments where you’re not trying to improve, fix, achieve or become anything.

I think burnout has made me realise how normalised it is to live slightly stressed all the time and then try to “manage” it better.

But maybe the answer isn’t always learning how to tolerate more.

Maybe it’s changing some of the things that are draining you in the first place.

Save this if you need the reminder 🤍
Or send it to someone who’s been carrying a lot lately.

I think this is one of the most confusing parts of burnout recovery.

You feel better → you do more → you crash → you think you’re back at square one.

But I’m learning that the goal shouldn’t be to get back to how much you could handle before.

It’s learning you don’t have to live at the edge of your capacity anymore.

And there’s something so empowering about that realisation.

Anyone else know this cycle very well?

This was probably one of the hardest things for me to accept about burnout.

Stopping didn’t immediately make me feel better.

I thought once the pressure was gone, I’d rest for a while and eventually feel like myself again.

But recovery hasn’t worked like that.

Some days I have energy.
Some days I don’t.
Some weeks I feel like I’ve turned a corner.
Then suddenly my body reminds me I’m still recovering.

And I’ve had to learn that feeling better isn’t the same as being fully recovered.

When you’ve spent a long time overriding exhaustion, pushing through stress and ignoring what your body is telling you, it makes sense that healing takes time too.

So if you’re frustrated because you think you should be further along by now:

Your recovery isn’t a race back to the person you were before burnout.

Maybe it’s about learning how to build a life that doesn’t require you to abandon yourself to keep it going. 🤍

A little reminder that we are the captains of our own ship.
If you’re in a situation, environment or place that is keeping you stuck… MOVE.

Physically, emotionally, mentally, metaphorically.

There is such power in movement.

However big or small that move is.

If an action takes you one step closer to what you desire, it’s a step in the right direction.

Always remember you are in control of your own destiny. ❤️

Plot twist: your 30s might not be where you finally have it all figured out.

They might be where you realise half of what you were chasing wasn’t even yours.

And start again — this time, on your own terms.

Sometimes life falling apart is also life giving you permission to rebuild it differently.

Listen and go for it.

This time, make sure it actually feels like yours.

I climbed the ladder.

Got the promotions.
The salary.
The title.
The responsibility.

And then one day I looked at the life that came with it and thought…

Wait. I don’t actually want this.

I don’t want to spend 60 hours a week working so I can enjoy my life in the gaps.

I don’t want to live for weekends and holidays.

I don’t want to be exhausted all week and call it ambition.

And I definitely don’t want to wait until retirement to have the time and freedom to actually live.

Maybe building something of my own won’t work.

Maybe I’ll doubt myself.

Maybe I’ll change direction another five times.

But I’d rather find out than spend another decade wondering what would have happened if I’d actually backed myself.

So… f*ck it.

I’m giving it a go.

Anyone else reached the “I literally cannot do this for another 30 years” stage of their career? 😂

I think something is changing in our generation.

Especially amongst women in their 30s.

We grew up with a very clear blueprint for what success was supposed to look like:

Get the degree.
Get the job.
Work hard.
Move up.
Earn more.
Buy the things.
Keep going.

And for a lot of us, it worked.

At least on paper.

But now there’s this strange collective moment happening where people are looking at the lives they worked so hard to build and asking:

Do I actually want this?

Not because we suddenly don’t care about work.

Not because we’ve become lazy.

Not because ambition disappeared.

I think our ambition has just become more sophisticated.

We still want money.

But we want time too.

We still want meaningful work.

But we don’t want our identity consumed by it.

We still want growth.

But not at the expense of our health, relationships, peace or freedom.

We want careers that fit around our lives — not lives that fit around our careers.

We want to be able to take a random Wednesday off.

Book the flight.

Spend time with people we love.

Move somewhere new.

Create something of our own.

Rest without feeling guilty.

And maybe most importantly:

have choices.

Because I think that’s what a lot of us are realising.

The ultimate luxury isn’t being endlessly busy.

It’s being able to decide how your life looks.

Maybe millennials aren’t becoming less ambitious.

Maybe we’ve just stopped believing that exhaustion is proof we’re doing well.

What does success mean to you now that it didn’t mean five years ago?

To all the star crossed lovers out there, wondering what’s next…

Whatever is meant for you will never miss you.

Maybe you’ll go your separate ways for a while
Maybe you each need time to to grow
Maybe you need time to heal

Whatever it is. If it’s meant for you. It will not miss you.

However heavy it feels right now. Trust what’s unfolding and surrender to it.

The right love will always find you again.

❤️‍🩹

Maybe you've spent years becoming incredibly good at being the person your old life required.

Capable.

Independent.

Productive.

Resilient.

The person who keeps going. Figures it out. Doesn't let anyone down.

And those parts of you aren't bad.

They may have protected you. Helped you succeed. Helped you survive chapters that asked a lot of you.

But at some point, I think we have to ask:

"Do I still need to be this person — or have I just become so used to being her that I don't know who I am without her?"

You don't have to reject the woman you used to be in order to outgrow her.

You can thank her.

You can love her.

You can recognise everything she did to get you here.

"And still decide she doesn't get to design what comes next."

Because growth isn't always about becoming more.

Sometimes it's about finally feeling safe enough to put down the identities you once needed to survive.

I think we spend so much time asking ourselves what might happen if it doesn’t work out.

What if I fail?
What if I regret it?
What if I make the wrong decision?
What if I have to start again?

But we rarely give the other possibility the same amount of attention.

What if it works?

What if leaving is the beginning of something better?

What if the thing you’re terrified to do becomes the decision you’re most grateful you made?

What if starting again introduces you to a life you couldn’t have imagined from where you were standing?

Sometimes the biggest risk isn’t changing your life.

It’s staying exactly where you are because you were too afraid to find out what else was possible.

I still meditate. I still use breathwork. I still journal, walk, regulate and look after my nervous system.

This isn't an argument against any of those things.

It's an argument for not asking them to solve something they were never designed to solve.

There is a difference between supporting yourself through a difficult life season and repeatedly using self-regulation to make fundamentally misaligned circumstances tolerable.

Sometimes we need better tools.

Sometimes we need better boundaries.

Sometimes we need support.

And sometimes, something about the life itself needs to change.

“Where are you trying to become better at coping with something that might actually be asking you to change?”
