The routines, relationships, decisions and everyday systems that help us build a life that works without constantly feeling like we’re putting out fires.

I’m Majolie, and this is the work I’m building around that belief:
Life works better when it is intentionally designed rather than being constantly managed.

If that sounds like the kind of family life you’re working towards, follow @themajoliepro and stay with me.

If you’re already here, tell me:
What part of family life are you striving to make better? 👇

There’s the way we communicate when everyone is exhausted, routines that keep the house running, the meals, holidays, school runs, and a million little decisions that somehow become part of our everyday family life.

There’s also the parent, mum and dad, in the middle of it all, still learning, growing and figuring things out too.

That’s the space TheMajoliePro lives in.

We talk family, parenting, and personal growth, with practical support for the everyday realities that come with all three.

Now, some of that support already exists in our existing resources you can start using right away:

📗 “Raising a Bully-Proof Child”, an ebook for the parent who wants to help his/her children build confidence, the posture and skills to navigate bullying situations. The goal is to raise them bully-proof rather than step in when the damage is done.

📗”I Don’t Shout Like That Anymore”, a guide for the overwhelmed mother looking to respond more in control rather than shout too quickly, when her kids push all the buttons.. It is rich in proven methods and tools that help you stay more in control of your voice.

💚 1:1 Mentorship for the woman who wants more personalised support as she works through the important stuff in her family and personal growth journey.

There are free resources too as we continue to build these systems and tools to ease your everyday family life:

🍽️ 1-Month Family Meal Plan (Latest edition coming soon + diaspora version.).

☀️ 50+ Summer Holiday Ideas for Lagos Parents (Seasonal. Watch out for more editions and wider coverage).

This is what TheMajoliePro is about: helping you make sense of the everyday, find better ways to navigate it, and build a family life that works for the people actually living it.

If that sounds like your kind of space, you’re in the right place! 🤗

Safety is a system you must build with intention🛡

The playground is often the first place our children encounter high risk situations. It’s unpredictable and completely unpremeditated.

Most parenting advice tells you to “just ignore them” or “tell a teacher.” But historical incidents have proven that leaving vague and passive instructions like those lead to failed outcomes every single time. You can’t rely on chance or trust in others (especially school authorities) when your child’s confidence and mental safety are on the line.

I created Raising a Bully-Proof Child to close the gap between expectations and certainty.

This is the intentional parent’s guide to securing their child’s safety upfront. I’m giving you the exact scripts and communication protocols your child needs to navigate social pressure gracefully.

We’re moving away from reactive parenting toward architecting our children’s armors. Only that these ones are made with actionable structures you need to ensure the kids protection like a LION PARENT that you are 🦁

One parenting flex is being able to pass instructions to our kids and they execute beautifully. Always a pleasure to see 🥰

But there’s another side to this we sometimes neglect; raising them to confidently take their own initiatives as well.

You might notice it when they get stuck on homework, make a mistake, struggle to find something they need or run into a problem with other kids.

Of course, children need guidance. They also need opportunities to think through little challenges, make age-appropriate choices and discover how they too can become problem solvers.

So, the next time your child gets stuck, and you know they can safely work through it with little to no support, leave them to do the work. Let’s not be too quick to jump in and save the day. Your little champ is equally up to the task 👍

You could prompt him or her by asking, “What do you think you could try to fix this?”

Listen to their answer. Help them think through the options if they need you to. Let them try, then step in only when the situation demands.

We can’t always be there, but even if we could, never forget we’re raising capable hands who’d grow up to become responsible adults, so let’s give them room to try, and fail, then maybe try again 😜

This is important because growing up involves learning what to do when there’s no one to give instruction or guidance. Plus, practice they say, makes perfect!

So tell me, what’s that everyday situation where you’d like your child to become more confident figuring things out on their own? Let’s discuss them in the comments 👇 Majolie Obaje uses this image showing a mother in a green striped sweater watching her son in a yellow hoodie as he writes in a notebook at the kitchen table, resting his hand on his head in concentration, with an open storybook and colour pencils nearby. So read on before saying YES to that next opportunity 👇

Most of us are great at recognising a “good” career opportunity. This usually means more money, a bigger title, and in most cases, a more impressive company.

So when the opportunity comes, the obvious answer is usually an emphatic YES! 😁

However, a career opportunity can be good and still be wrong for you. Yea, take a moment to digest this fact 🙇‍♀️

So before saying “YES” to that next level offer in your email right now, please answer these questions:

Money: Will this materially improve my financial position?

Mastery: Will I learn or build something that matters to my future?

Meaning: Do I really care about the job, or am I more attracted to the title?

Life balance: Will I have a life outside work?

Answer these honestly cause the wrong career move rarely screams failure. It’s more like success you can’t sustain. Like you’re chasing a mirage.

When you answer these questions and find the opportunity doesn’t check out for you, it’s okay to say “NO”.

Saying “NO” with clarity wouldn’t be a lack of ambition, trust me. It’s rather knowing what makes an opportunity worth taking and staying on business.

Which one do you think people overlook most: money, mastery, meaning or life balance? Do share 👇

Ambition sounds exciting when you’re talking about it. From the bigger role and next opportunity to next level promotions or bigger rooms. All so exciting!

But hey! Living with ambition is different and that’s because eventually, your growth ambition starts asking questions that your goals are unable answer 😂

Questions like:

What are you willing to sacrifice your time to?

What are you willing to give up? 😩

What does success look like when you also have a family, people who need you, a life outside work and a version of yourself that’s still becoming?

But then while this can be overwhelming sometimes, one thing I’ve grown to know is that growth is beyond how far one can go. While that’s a good measure, growth is also becoming intentional about what you’re building along the way.

You don’t want a career or business that keeps growing while the rest of your life keeps shrinking, trust me! Been there, done that, and it’s not a good place to be in at all.

Honestly, all I pursue these days is growth that makes sense for the woman I am, the family I’m raising, and the life I’m building. You can try it too! That could be part of growing in your career or expanding your business.

At the end of the day, your ambition needs a life to live in. Focus on building that life and watch everything else fall in place.

You get the drift? Ire o… 💅

Teaching your child to say “NO” is a great place to start

But what happens when saying no doesn’t end the situation?

Imagine:
A friend keeps insisting your son participates in a game even after they declined, others laugh…

An older kid says, “Don’t be a baby.” and everyone else joins in.

The boy knows he’s uninterested, but now he has to decide what to do next.

This is the part I think we need to prepare them for, after teaching boundaries.

Give your boy or girl a simple sequence they can remember:

NOTICE.
They must learn to identify when something feels uncomfortable, confusing or utterly wrong.

SAY IT.
“I don’t want to.”
“Stop.”
“No, I’m not doing that.” They must learn to be firm in their stance, repeatedly.

MOVE.
They don’t have to stay to argue their case. Teach your child to walk away.

TELL.
Keep emphasizing the need to open up. If an unfair situation continues, something happens that concerns them, or they simply aren’t sure what to do, they must find a trusted adult and tell them.

And then there’s the part that starts with us; we must be intentional in making our kids comfortable talking to us.

If a child gets used to hearing you say, “What did you do?” before “Are you okay?”, they may think twice about telling you next time.

Our children will eventually have conversations, make decisions and find themselves in situations without us standing beside them.

While can’t prepare them for every possible situation, we can give them language, judgement and a clear next step when they don’t know what to do.

That’s what makes a boundary useful, especially outside the home.

Save this and practise the four steps with your child regularly.

Then ask them: “What would you do if your friend kept asking you to do something after you said no?”

BONUS: Infuse role plays when having these conversations. They help you know how confident and ready your child is for outside engagement.

What are you teaching your child about boundaries today?

…that nothing changed. At least for a little while📌

Don’t get me wrong, I’d be grateful for the extra money, but I wouldn’t go on a spending spree as though that 50% had always belonged in my monthly budget.

I’d definitely need some time to decide what I actually want the increase to do for my life and family.

I say this cos over time, I’ve come to realize that when income increases, expenses have a funny way of matching same energy if we’re not careful 🤑

We suddenly realize how much more we need; bigger house, more subs, finer dinings, and of course more family responsibilities because, well, “you can afford it now.” 😩

Before long, the raise becomes your new normal and you’re wondering why you still can’t breathe? Ehn anty? 🤭

Anyway, I’d start by giving the extra a full time job:

1. Strengthen my safety net.
2. Increase my investment appetite or set aside for a specific financial goal.
3. Invest some towards making life easier for my family.
And yes, splurge on myself too! (Personal shopping, solo travel, personal development, etc) 🛍️

What’s the point here? It’s to ensure the raise changes your financial position first, before your lifestyle.

It’s true that everyone loves to earn more but knowing what you can build leveraging the extra, is where it gets interesting.

PS: Pay your tithe oh. It’s a proven Kingdom principle to grow your wealth.

So you tell me, If your income increased by 50% tomorrow, what’s the first thing you’d do?

Nobody wakes up thinking, “Today, I want to raise my voice at my child.”

It usually happens in between countless reminders, unanswered questions, the mess you had to clean up, and the moment you realise you’ve been running on empty.

Your child does something, and suddenly, your voice gets louder than you intended.

Beyond asking why this child keeps testing your patience, there are a few more questions you must try asking yourself:

“What was going on in my head before I raised my voice?”

Were you feeling frustrated? Were you in a hurry? Exhausted from handling so much alone?

While it may be necessary to correct the child’s behavior, it’s even more important to look inwards; did you really mean to snap at the kids or were you just struggling to self-regulate?

Understanding what happens before you lose your cool gives you something useful to work with. You’re able to identify and name the real triggers.

So next time, instead of only thinking, “I need to stop shouting,” take note of the real trigger that happened few minutes earlier. That pattern might tell you something beyond the “shouting” itself.

In a case where you’d already lost it, that’s ok. Just focus on fixing the slip. Talk about what transpired. Take note of what you could’ve done differently, then try again.

I explore this and more in the eBook “I Don’t Shout Like That Anymore”, a practical resource for parents who want to understand their reactions and build a calmer way of responding to situations.

Type “BOOK” and I’ll send you the download link 👇

You can be grateful for your life and still want more from it 📌📌📌

I think a lot of us struggle with this. We look around and see the things we once prayed for now our reality, from job to family, home, etc.

So when that little voice says, “There’s still more I want to do,” we sometimes silence it because wanting more could feel like admitting that what we have isn’t enough.

But those two can co-exist 🤷‍♀️

You can appreciate where you are and still be curious about where you could be.

You can love the life you’ve built and still want to build something new.

You can be proud of your career and still want to learn something completely different.

You can be happy with who you’ve become and still know that there are parts of you you’re yet to explore.

This is called growth, and it doesn’t have to be labelled “dissatisfaction.”

There’s a difference between chasing more because you think you’ll finally become enough, and pursuing more because you know you still have a lot more to give.

Those are two very different pursuits, and you must name them accordingly.

You don’t have to tear down your current life to make room for your next one. Neither do you need to apologise for growing, or prove your gratitude by staying “humble.”

So here’s your charge: go take the course if it’d birth your more. Apply for the role, start the business, pick up the book, subscribe to that Dangote refinery IPO, just make that call!

Gratitude can keep you grounded. But growth? Growth will keep you moving. You don’t have to choose between them ❤️

If this found you at a time when you’re thinking about your own “more,” save it. And send it to someone who needs the reminder that wanting more doesn’t make them ungrateful or greedy.”
