You know that thing you’re supposed to do but keep putting it off?

Just do it.

Don’t let it take up more of your mental energy.

Most creators are using AI all wrong.

You wouldn’t ask a drill to drill something for you, so why ask ChatGPT to write a video description without any context?

AI is a massively powerful tool, but just like a drill, it’s all about how you use it and not expecting it to give amazing results without guidance.

What I’ve found works best is to have a conversation in the prompt chat. Start by asking it to give you brutally honest feedback—this bypasses the standard friendly responses and gets results. Then tell it where you are, where you want to be, and what your current plan is to start the conversation.

If you want the exact ChatGPT prompt I used for my 2026 social media strategy, DM me and I’ll send it to you completely free. by @themakeredge

After failing too many annual goals to count, I did a ton of research to figure out what I was missing.

My goals were just hopes and dreams without a system behind them. They were also far too long-term.

Now, I break my annual goals into quarters, quarters to months, and months to weeks. At the week level, I can break it down into projects and tasks so there are actions behind them. During the week, I keep track of the week’s goals and project completion.

Once per week, I make sure I’m on track with all my goals all the way up to annual and can make any adjustments necessary. by @themakeredge

Want to justify buying a 3D printer to your significant other? These are 4 of my favorite practical prints for a home office (and a fifth in the background if you can catch it).

1. Gridfinity SD Card Holders - If you make content, keeping track of SD Cards becomes a chore. I have a small Gridfinity grid on my desk and keep active SD card readily available, organized, and out of the way.

2. Label Maker Custom Bin - My label maker was always getting in the way, on top of things, and keeping me from opening the drawer it’s in. A regular bin wasn’t working due to the weird size, but this one keeps it in place with additional storage for cartridges.

3. 3D Printer Hotend Organizer - Hot ends (and their extra screws) were rattling around in a small drawer and hard to find when I needed to clear a clog or switch sizes. This organizer keeps them separated, everything together, and keeps other things from potentially damaging the ends. Plus, dual colors without needing multi color printing!

4. Custom cable clips - my cheap microphone arm didn’t have any cable management and Velcro wasn’t working for some reason. I modeled custom clips to keep everything together and in place along the arm. Plus, if one breaks I can print another or add extras like the hook for extra cords so nothing is in the way.

5. BONUS! Did you spot the Star Wars lighting mod I made to a Hue light? It’s toward the end of the video. by @themakeredge

Southern Style DIY is gone. Welcome to The Maker Edge!

Early in 2025, I was brutally honest with myself and realized that I’m not the best person to teach others to make things or inspire them to get started.

I spent 2025 learning as much as I could about growing an online business, social media strategies, how to run an effective newsletter, and tons of frameworks and mental models. Now, I want to help as many Maker creators, brands, and businesses get their message out to as many people as possible.

Throughout the year, I’ll be sharing everything I’ve learned to help you grow your audience, increase your influence, and finally achieve wild success.

Plus, I’m implementing what I’ve learned while showing you exactly what it is, how it works, and why it’s effective. by @themakeredge

1 Easy Way To Make Your Tool Organization Not Boring

Paint it after a theme!

All these 2 kinds of organizers needed to be less boring was:
• a coat of primer
• mask off simple lines with tape
• paint accent stripes

Would recommend air-brushing instead of chip brush like I used though for even better results. by @themakeredge

My mobile workbench was BORING!

Instead of settling for that, I decided to transform it into a Star Wars workbench! First task was a coat of space grey paint. Then, I taped off some areas and painted yellow accents.

Can you spot what I did wrong with the yellow paint? by @themakeredge

A workshop shouldn’t be boring.

My mobile workbench looked like many others online. Instead of settling for that, I grabbed a rattle can of gray primer and changed the color. To add some more flare, I also taped off some designs on the sides and painted them yellow.

Just the starting point for my workbench makeover. by @themakeredge

Time to start shaping up the Taylor Swift Reputation Tombstone! To even out the sides, I used a pull saw. The scratch marks would normally get sanded out, but I think they will help make the foam insulation boards look more like rock later. by @themakeredge

Now that we have a bunch of layers for the Taylor Swift #reputation tombstone, it’s time to glue them up into one giant #tombstone! Some water and gorilla glue work well to keep the pieces secure long term. #glueup #taylorswift #taylorswiftdiy by @themakeredge
