WE HAVE MOVED! About 5 metres to the left 😉 A year ago, we were invited to bring The Matcha Kyoto to @theofficialselfridges at Manchester Exchange Square. At the time, we were still a small, growing business, opening just 2–3 days a week through pop-ups in cafés, offices, and wherever else we could find a little space to share our matcha. So, when Selfridges invited us in, it meant more than just having a new place to serve matcha. For the first time since we started, we didn’t have to play hide-and-seek with our customers. As people sought after us on a weekly basis trying catch us with our opening hours and locations, wow what a memory. Needless to say, we’re incredibly grateful to the Selfridges team for choosing to work with us and believing in what we do. Given how young our business was at the time, it must have felt like a bit of a gamble on their part 😂 Since then, we’ve been working quietly behind the scenes with the wonderful team at Selfridges to create a space centred around quality matcha, Japanese materiality and a sense of calm — bringing a little piece of Kyoto to the heart of Manchester. And today, we’re incredibly proud to say: The Matcha Kyoto has officially opened its brand-new counter at Selfridges Manchester! 🍵 From travelling around with our pop-up stand to having a permanent home at Selfridges, this is a milestone we could never have imagined when we first started. Autumn Menu launching THIS FRIDAY 🍂 「季節感」— Sensitivity to the changing seasons In Japanese arts such as tea ceremony, flower arrangement, confectionery, and gardening, the seasons are not simply experienced as changes in weather, but are felt and expressed through many subtle and fleeting details. For our ’26 Autumn/Winter Menu, we have selected seasonal ingredients such as sesame, pumpkin, chestnut and kinako, and paired them with specific teas and flavours — matcha, hōjicha, coffee and genmaicha — that we have deliberately chosen for you. When customers ask for our recommendations, we always say that if the drink has made its way to our menu, it is definitely worth trying at least if not addictive😂 If you are really unsure, please try our Rosé No.1, White Chocolate Matcha and Tiramisu Float from the spring menu. Banana Pudding Matcha also needs little introduction.
