This past weekend, I had the honor of representing Division 26A at the Florida District of Key Club International July Board Meeting.

Throughout the three day session, I participated in trainings, leadership activities, and divisional goal-setting, alongside the Lieutenant Governors and Executive Officers of the Florida District. Additionally, we had the opportunity to hear from many inspiring officials across the Key Club Family, including Florida Kiwanis Governor-Elect Linda Skaathun and Florida CKI Governor Alyson Mizanin.

At our Sunday board meeting, I was honored to receive the Leaders of Leaders Award, given to executives and Lieutenant Governors who go above and beyond in serving our members. Only 4 out of 57 officers were selected this board meeting, and I’m incredibly grateful to have been one of them. This award really belongs to Division 26A’s 1500+ members, who are all the backbone of everything we do, and to Charles Gugliuzza, my Zone Administrator, whose advice and guidance made this possible.

As I move forward in this role, serving the Key Clubs of the Miami area, I’ll lead with the kindness and collaborative spirit that this weekend has reinforced in
me. I’m dedicated to bringing that energy to our division as we grow our clubs and expand our service initiatives.

This past weekend, I had the amazing opportunity to attend my first @flkeyclub District Convention, being officially installed as the next Lieutenant Governor for Division 26A. It’s truly an honor to represent our division, Florida’s largest in membership, and over 1,700 dedicated, passionate high schoolers. This role allows me to work alongside student leaders to shape the future of service in Miami communities, and create our own student-led projects while expanding membership and chartering new schools.

Key Club is far from just a service club in our schools, and I found that out very quickly last year. It becomes a family, a community of giving, learning, and encouragement where everyone around you wants to see you succeed, alongside them. In 26A, I find that same energy and passion, and I’m so glad to call it my home for the next year.

Throughout these next months, I can’t wait to grow from this opportunity and meet new people, sharing our love and commitment to service to work together. I want to thank last year’s governor, @eleanor.koh_ , for everything she’s done for our district, as well as my predecessor, @sebaalopez13 , for his outstanding work as last year’s Lieutenant Governor. Thank you for guiding me through the transition to this year and for building the foundation of leadership that keeps our clubs alive. I hope to make this year as memorable and engaging as they made last, and to unite our clubs, officers, and members to achieve new heights.

On Thursday, October 23rd, I had the honor of attending City of Doral Mayor @christifraga ‘s State of the City Address, where I learned about the remarkable progress made by the Mayor and her council this past year, the initiatives currently underway, and the exciting projects and events planned for 2026.

As a member of the City of Doral’s Youth Civic Committee, I’m dedicated to contributing to that same spirit of progress, by ensuring that young voices are included in shaping the city’s future and advancing initiatives that strengthen civic engagement, sustainability, and community connection. Hearing about Doral’s achievements and vision at the State of the City address reaffirmed my commitment to continue serving and impacting our city, for the better.

I would like to thank councilmembers Digna Cabral, Rafael Pineyro, Nicole Reinoso, and Linda Julien for taking the time to speak with me about the future of Doral and for always including youth voices, making sure to pave the way for our nation’s next leaders.

This week, on September 23rd, I had the pleasure of attending my first-ever @cityofdoral Youth Civic Committee meeting. There, I gained a true understanding of what it means to serve on one of our city’s many committees, working to address the needs and concerns of local youth while bringing them engaging events, meaningful programs, and a stronger voice in local politics.

Additionally, I was selected as the committee’s Secretary for the 2025-2026 session, where I will be responsible for maintaining records, documenting meetings, and supporting the committee in carrying out its initiatives. Congratulations to @gioia__gentile on being selected as our Chair!

Looking forward to making a change in this committee, and to bringing local government to the next generation of lawmakers and elected official: the youth.

This past month, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to help lead @virtutem_populo ‘s newest initiative, the NextGen Civic Leadership Academy, in collaboration with PIVOT (@pivot.youth ).

Throughout the two weeks of the academy, I was able to meet and speak with so many amazing student leaders from across 30+ countries, expanding my world view on key civic issues.

We heard from inspiring speakers like Tariq Lawal (@riqlawal ), Akanshya Gurung, and Mayor Jaylen Smith (@mayorjaylensmith ), as well as from Virtutem Populo’s very own founder, Maurits Acosta (@mauritsacosta ). Our participants learned what it meant to advocate and innovate for the things they were passionate about by developing their own projects, researching issues in their communities, and constantly sharing ideas with each other, building a global network of high school changemakers.

Huge thanks to Caleb, Saniya, and Arthur, co-founders of PIVOT, for investing so much of your time and effort into this academy. Giving this opportunity to so many of the world’s high schoolers has been nothing short of a dream, and I can’t wait for what’s next. A special shoutout to all of our amazing participant as well! Working with each and every single one of them has been such an amazing experience, and their dedication to civics and making a real impact in their communities gives me immeasurable hope for the future.

This past week, I had the incredible opportunity of interning at the office of @repcarlosfl, who represents Florida's 28th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Through conducting research, connecting with constituents, and answering calls about pressing legislative issues, I was able to gain a firsthand look into public service and what it really means to be an elected official. It was truly eye-opening to see how local concerns, especially those regarding immigration, are addressed at the federal level, and how much effort goes into listening to and serving the people.

As someone passionate about government, civic engagement, and immigrant representation, this experience reminded me why youth voice and policy education matter so deeply. I’m grateful to the Congressman’s staff for the opportunity and their mentorship, and I'm excited to continue my journey in politics as a youth civic leader. taken in United States House of Representatives by @themateocisneros

This afternoon, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in @virtutem_populo ’s Youth Governance Day, an initiative that gives Miami-Dade students a behind-the-scenes look at local government and the daily responsibilities of elected officials.

As part of the program, I was able to shadow @christifraga , Mayor of Doral, and gained insight into her journey in public service, as well as the events and initiatives she and the City Council lead to serve the community.

This experience showed me first-hand the impact local leaders have on their communities, and further strengthened my passion for public service. Seeing the direct connection between our elected officials and Doral's residents reminded me of the true purpose of government: serving the people. taken in City of Doral - Government Center by @themateocisneros

Last Tuesday, May 20th, I had the absolute honor of attending @virtutem_populo ‘s Third Annual Civic Excellence Gala, an amazing and unforgettable night that went above and beyond in showing us the power that Miami-Dade’s students have, and the extent to which civic engagement and action can positively impact our schools, communities, and student bodies all across the county.

Founded by the one and only @mauritsacosta this organization has advocated for our students’ voices since 2022, and has brought them closer than ever before to our country’s world of government and civics, through events, podcasts episodes, and competitions.

During the event, I was announced as one of Virtutem Populo’s Administrative Assistants for next year, and I am so greatly honored to have been chosen for this position. I truly can not wait to see what we can accomplish next year, and I am confident in my new team’s ability to take this organization to new heights.

I want to thank @its.clintjohn , our new Executive Director for his incredible dedication to this organization, and for his determination to make this event better than ever. He is constantly fighting for our student voices to be heard and our concerns to be acted upon, and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to work with him in the near future.

Lastly, I wish all the graduating seniors all the best in their future journeys, and would like to honor them for their contributions to Virtutem Populo. Without them, this community would not how it is today, and I am truly inspired by each and every one of them. taken in School of Justice at Miami Dade College by @themateocisneros
