So… I turned 30 back in May 👀 Yes, I’m late. But better late than never right? 🤭

This one gave me plot twists I didn’t write, and lessons wrapped in things that looked like loss at the time.

I’ve been tagged a lot of things but God never once agreed with any of them.

30 didn’t come with everything figured out. It came with something better 🤗 PEACE. The kind you can’t fake and can’t rush. The kind that shows up after you stop trying to control the outcome and just trust the process.

So if you’re waiting for permission to be “late,” to heal slow, to post when you’re ready and not when it’s trending” this is it.

Cheers to the version of me that made it here. And cheers to whatever’s next, because if this year taught me anything, it’s that God’s timing has never once missed.

Happy belated birthday Melody Chinyere Blessing Thompson! I love you girl 🫶🏻🌹

Some people will take what you give and still ask for more.
Cut off a piece of yourself and it somehow still won’t feel like enough.

That’s the weight of human approval. It moves the finish line every time you get close.

But God doesn’t work like that.

With Him, you don’t have to perform yourself into worth.
You don’t have to bleed for validation or stretch into something you’re not.

He’s not waiting for a trophy version of you.
He’s not impressed by the polished, filtered, “almost perfect” you.

He sees you and still says enough.

And maybe that’s the shift.
From chasing approval to resting in the One who never required it in the first place.

Love,
Mel 🤎

Good to be back 🤗

Today would have been my dad’s birthday.
It’s a strange feeling to mark this day without him here. We laid him to rest on the 21st of March, and since then I’ve been quiet… holding space for grief, memories, and gratitude all at once.

Through it all, I can only say thank you, God. For strength I didn’t know I had. For comfort in unexpected places. For the quiet reminders that we are not walking through this alone.

And thank you to every single person who has carried us in any way.
Your calls, prayer, message, visit, contribution, or simply checking in, it meant more than I can put into words. We see it. We feel it. We are deeply grateful.

A heartfelt thank you to my Pastors, Pastor Richard Okorie and Pastor Martine Okorie. You were there from the beginning of this journey over a year ago, in the waiting, in the heartbreak, and now in the healing. You’ve shown up like parents and stood by us in ways that words can’t say. We love you both.

To my mum’s friends, her community, and every single person who has stood by her with genuine love, thank you for holding her up when the days were heavy.

To my siblings and my mum, I love you all. We’ve held each other through this storm, and I don’t take that for granted.

And to my dear people in the UK/CACWA who showed up for me when I didn’t even have the strength to ask for help, thank you for being family away from home.

Grief is heavy, but gratitude lives right beside it.
Thank you for carrying us. Truly. 🙏🏻🤎 by @themelwonda

With deep gratitude to God for a life well lived, we invite you to join us as we honor and celebrate our father, Rev. Thompson Chukwuka Okwelum.

He was many things to many people. A pastor. A mentor. A voice of faith. A father.
And whether you knew him personally or encountered his ministry from afar, his life carried weight.

We have received countless messages, testimonies, and stories that remind us that his life was not small. It reached. It impacted. It mattered.

If he ever prayed for you, counseled you, corrected you, encouraged you, or simply stood as a spiritual covering in your life, we welcome you to come and celebrate the mantle he carried and the legacy he leaves behind.

We honor him now.
And we will honor him always

Today is for my mother.

Not just because she is my mum.
But because I have seen her.

I have slept beside this woman and heard the kind of tears that don’t want witnesses.
I have watched her carry pain in one hand and still serve love with the other.
I have seen her endure seasons that would have broken many… and somehow she stood.

Not loud.
Not dramatic.
Just steady.

There were nights she cried quietly, thinking we I was asleep.
There were days she showed up dressed in strength when her heart was heavy.
There were yearssss she swallowed disappointment and still chose dignity.

My father may have been a general in ministry.
But my mother?
She has been a warrior in private.

I honour a woman who knows how to bend without breaking.
Who has loved deeply.
Who has forgiven quietly.
Who has held a family together with prayer, grit, and grace.

If I become half the woman she is, I would have lived well.
And I say this boldly, in this life or another, I would choose her as my mother again.

Today is not about the drama.
It’s not about the noise.
It’s about the strength of a woman who kept going when it would have been easier to fall apart. I have more to say and with time, I will.

Mummy, I see you.
I have always seen you.
And I am proud to be your daughter. by @themelwonda

People keep asking how I’m doing.
I think the real answer is
I’m standing.
(Wobbly feet and all)

Not healed
Not broken beyond repair

Just standing in the space where love doesn’t disappear
even when someone does.

And I guess that’s okay 🥹🤎🕊️ by @themelwonda

Our father went to rest on Sunday (18•01•2026)

And this isn’t one of those posts that wraps grief in a bow.

He was a general in ministry.
A man anchored in God, unmoved by noise, trends, or applause.
Faith wasn’t something he spoke about. It was something he stood on.
Hard. Solid. Non-negotiable.

We loved him. All of us.
And loving him wasn’t always easy.

There were moments of closeness and moments of distance.
Lessons that came gently and others that came heavy.
But even in the hard places, love never left the room.
It just learned different ways to exist.

Our childhood holds laughter we still smile about.
And discipline that shaped us long before we understood why.
Both are part of the inheritance.

Our father taught us that God is not a convenience. He is Lord.
That conviction marked our home and now marks our lives.

So today, we grieve as children.
And we stand as witnesses.

Witnesses to a man who finished his assignment. Who stayed faithful through storms people may never fully know.
Who loved God deeply and taught us, in his own way, to do the same.

Daddy, rest.
Your prayers are alive in us.
Your voice echoes in our choices.
Your legacy isn’t perfection. It’s foundation.

And for that, we pause.
We honor.
We remember. by @themelwonda

I think 2024 sat me down in a way I didn’t see coming.
Life shifted.
People shifted.
Even I shifted.

Same in this beautiful 2025
Some days my heart felt heavier than my body could hold. Other days joy showed up in places I didn’t expect… almost like God slipped little reminders into my pockets so I wouldn’t forget who I am.

It’s been a strange mix.
Beautiful and heartbreaking.
Messy and refining.
Loud and quiet.
All at once!

But here’s the part that still surprises me:
I’m walking out of this year with gratitude. Not the shiny kind… the honest kind. The kind you learn after you’ve survived things that tried to break you in private.

I’ve learned a lot.
About people.
About life.
About God.
About myself.

Everyone who played a part knows exactly where they fit in my story.
I’m moving forward. Same heart, same purpose… just sharper. Softer. Better.

If you’re reading this and this year or any other season dragged you through your own fire… hear me: you’re allowed to restart. You’re allowed to rise slowly. You’re allowed to carry joy and pain in the same breath. It doesn’t make you weak. It makes you human.

2026 is coming.
And maybe you don’t feel ready.
But maybe readiness is overrated.

Maybe all you need is a little faith, a little healing, and the courage to believe you’re becoming someone your old self prayed for.

I’m still here.
Still standing.
Still learning.
Still becoming.

And so are you 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 taken in PEACE by @themelwonda
