the mental perspective is . . .

L I G H T + L O V E + C O M M U N I T Y

q: what is your mental battle?

anxiety + depression is something i battle with, and have most of my life. with that came shame, hopelessness + loneliness. feeling like i was the only one in the world struggling with it + didn’t know how to pull myself out.

i created the mental perspective because having an outlet + a community has been something vital in my mental health + wellness journey. i wanted to create a space for black men + women to share their stories + perspective on mental health without shame or judgement

today I bring light + awareness to mental health battles we may deal with on a day to day in our community

A Door

This is a calling to all the afflicted.
It’s impossible to promise your troubles will be dissolved.
At the least, you’ll find a platform and no longer be restricted.
You see…
You’re not alone in this struggle.
You’re not the only one that had to learn how to juggle.
You’re part of a group of minorities within a group of minorities.
It’s time to consider your battles new found strengths…
Not deformities.
We all have our own perspective.
However one stands true to us all.
Hiding only makes it worse, our thoughts can’t be neglected.
This project offers a front row seat to view how alone you’re not.
One full of strength, pride, and togetherness.
Oh yeah, we’ve saved you a spot.
Open your mind.
Don’t just hear us, listen.
Let’s remove those jaded lenses.
Let’s understand the real vision.

control.

it’s one of the most difficult things to master.
slow down.
breathe.
it’s ok if the world seems like it’s moving faster.
you control your journey.
take it back.
it will be under siege for the rest of your life.
ignore how everyone else wants to view your show.
possessing it requires sacrifice.
it requires the ability to let go.
