Entry level jobs are not disappearing. They are changing into something almost nobody is training people for.

PwC’s 2026 Global AI Jobs Barometer found that in the most AI exposed occupations, entry level roles are now seven times more likely to require skills once reserved for experienced workers: judgment, leadership, and decision making under uncertainty.

AI is removing the routine work that used to function as an apprenticeship. The scaffolding that helped new professionals build judgment over two or three years is disappearing, and most organizations have not adjusted what they are asking of new hires, or how they are preparing them.
