“Light is meaningful only in relation to darkness, and truth presupposes error. It is these mingled opposites which people our life, which make it pungent, intoxicating. We only exist in terms of this conflict, in the zone where black and white clash.”

“Golden hour, magic hour, l’heure bleue. Evenings when the beauty of the changing sky made us both go still and dreamy. Sunlight falling at an angle across the lawn so that it touched our elevated feet, then moved up our bodies like a long slow blessing.”

The story behind the portrait: I found this Mori Lee dress on Poshmark. I love the beauty of darkness, the brilliance of sequins, and the variety of colors absorbed and dancing within the dress. I recruited Autumn to become the dress, wear combat boots, and carry my plague mask—a taunt perhaps. We wanted it a little messy, artsy, less coiffed, and more balanced with truth. More like the dress had lived rather than just been worn. We hopscotched railroad ties, reclined on velvet sofas, balanced on trestles, dodged wasps, and raced the sun. It was like coloring with a whole new box of crayons!😍

My Mimi is next! 💜 I can’t wait to put something together with her!

ANAGRAM

is when you take a word
and rearrange the letters
to make another word.

And sometimes the words
are still somehow connected
ex: CANOE = OCEAN.

Same letters,
different words,
somehow still make
sense together,

like brothers.

it is strange
how
sisters
can
be
saviors
or
strangers
&
sometimes
a bit of both.

Moments with Autumn 🍂
I was just going through some old portraits this rainy evening. I always set aside a few that just immediately pull me in, so here is one from this lovely lady’s shoot. This day went a little sideways, and we had to figure out a different location and feel. She just made it happen! I miss my model! 🧡
