Making a big difference for tiny lives 🐈‍⬛💕
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
If you’re not doing a kitten rescue on a random Tuesday night-it’s not kitten season!

A friend tagged me in a post about a kitten that was not well off and crashing. I quickly got information and headed over to pick the kitten up.
When I arrived, the situation was like many we see- an underserved area with a large population of unaltered cats. The little kitten was lifeless and wrapped up in a towel.

While we warmed the kitten up in the car, I spoke with the finder to get all the information I could and it turns out there was actually a mom and siblings. I told them about our foster program and they allowed us to take the whole family.
I also gave them information so we can fix the rest of the cats in the area at no cost.

While helping this litter is important, the most important thing is to fix the cats so the suffering ends. Mom and the 5 siblings are seemingly healthy and doing well. One kitten is in kitten ICU for the night with a guarded prognosis. ♥️ please keep the lil guy in your thoughts! by @themiskits23

I can’t believe how much this girl has progressed in the last 24 hours. I know I say it all the time, but I feel truly lucky to work at a shelter that gives dogs like Roxy a chance. 🥺

Roxy was rushed in to the shelter yesterday afternoon after a very freak accident. She was outside pottying and a tree branch fell and hit her in her neck and back. Roxy couldn’t stand and when staff first brought her back to the clinic, we were sure her neck or back was broken….until we saw her little tail wag. 💗

Our vet team immediately jumped into action to get an IV catheter in while two employees raced to a local vet’s office to get a medication to help with intracranial pressure and swelling that often occurs with brain injury.
It was incredibly hard to watch how confused little Roxy was when she would try to right herself but couldn’t.

After a few hours, Roxy was already showing some improvement!
I took her home for the night on IV fluids and to monitor her. This morning, she’s much more responsive and even tried to stand up to crawl into my lap. I’m so proud of her 😭

As with any traumatic injury, Roxy’s outcome is still very guarded but I’m hopeful with time and lots of love, she will get back to being her self. 💗

Please send positive thoughts to Roxy and if you can, donate to her medical care.

I really try to avoid posting sad or negative things on my social media because I know there is so much of it, especially for my rescue friends, and I also see SO much good every day. I work with people who are so dedicated to helping animals and wake up and do incredible things, but I think it’s also important to show all sides of my life and animal welfare.

We have been beyond full for weeks and weeks and unfortunately today had to make some really tough decisions so we can accommodate the never ending request for intakes.

Koda was a good boy. He wasn’t aggressive. He was silly and inquisitive and too smart for his own good. Like many, many dogs, Koda was suffering in a kennel environment. His behavior and euthanasia was the result of someone’s irresponsibility- plain and simple.

While a husky/shepherd puppy is adorable, they come with a huge responsibility and need so much work and commitment. That puppy ending up in a shelter before he even turns a year old and having never been taught any manners is not cute, it is so, so heartbreaking.

Every shelter and rescue is full, dog adoptions are slow and while I am SO grateful that these decisions do not have to be made as often as they use to, it tears us apart as shelter workers to say goodbye to dogs that have so much potential to be incredible pets.

Please, spay and neuter your pets. Adopt one of the millions of wonderful dogs waiting in a shelter for you. Help your neighbors become responsible pet owners. Spread resources and education. Donate. Foster. And if you can’t help physically or financially, just hold space in your heart for the dogs who don’t get a forever and for the shelter workers who have to face this reality every single day.

Welp!
That’s a WRAP!

We shared our home with 39 fosters in 2023 and accomplished so much! 🥰
•33 kittens
•3 puppies
•1 fospice kitty
•1 community cat that was released back 🐱
•1 leopard gecko 🦎

We experienced one of the hardest losses ever this year when we unexpectedly lost our blind kitten, Stewie. I reminded myself to always hold space for Stewie, but to continue on my mission of saving lives. 💗

With the help of incredible donors, my dream of having incubators was fulfilled! I cannot express how incredible and life saving these have been!

Thanks to our shelter veterinarian, I learned to properly tube feed and raised my very first tube fed baby-Ron J!

What a wonderful year full of learning, challenges, and the sweetest lil babies ever.

Have you adopted one of my fosters?? Post updates below. 🎊

Seeing an incubator full of kittens in my own home tonight for the first time ever made me want to cry! In the absolute best way possible.

A foster brought their bottle babies in because one was not doing great. They’re in the kitten ICU with me for the night to monitor & get hopefully back on the right track.

Having this set up has been a DREAM ever since I started fostering 10 years ago.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who made this dream a reality for me & the kittens.

CH cats are my absolute favorite: quirky, clumsy and super sweet!
CH is non- progressive and not contagious. It affects their balance and coordination, though a lot of cats improve with age. by @themiskits23
