This was the day after we got engaged.

No crowd. No celebration happening around us. Just the two of us, still trying to process the fact that we’d decided to spend the rest of our lives together.

And somehow, this quiet little moment captured us better than almost anything else could.

His arms around me. Me completely relaxed against him. Nowhere we needed to be. Nothing we needed to say.

Just being home in his embrace.

I used to think love was supposed to be all butterflies, passion, and grand gestures. Then I met him and learned that the best kind of love can be exciting, but it can also feel incredibly calm.

It’s laughing until you can’t breathe one minute and sitting together in complete silence the next. It’s knowing someone has seen every version of you and you never have to question whether they’re staying.

Years later, after the adventures, the chaos, the growing, the marriage, and the life we’ve built together so far, I watch this and realize that feeling never changed.

If anything, I understand it more now.

I didn’t just fall in love with someone I wanted to spend forever with.

I found the person I could finally be still with.

And I think that’s one of the greatest kinds of love there is. ❤️

This is us in six seconds. 🤍

Somewhere beautiful in the world, enjoying each other’s presence, getting knocked around a little, and still having the best time.

And I think that’s what I love most about us. It doesn’t really matter where we are or what we’re doing. Give me a plane ticket, a random Tuesday at home, a boat on the Amalfi Coast, or one of our inevitable vacation medical disasters (though we can always do without this one), and I’m happy as long as you’re there.

You’re the person I want beside me for the big moments, the quiet ones, the ridiculous ones, and all the ordinary days in between.

I still can’t believe I get to call you my husband, my best friend, and my favorite person to do life with.

If this is what forever looks like, I’ll take every second of it choosing you. Para Siempre 🫶🏼🌊

My biggest flex will never be a title, a paycheck, or anything I could ever put on a résumé.

It’s this.

I chose someone who makes life feel lighter when it gets heavy. Someone who celebrates my wins like they’re his own, holds me down when life gets messy, challenges me when I need it, and somehow still makes me laugh when I’m absolutely determined to be annoyed.

I chose someone I can dream ridiculously big with and still be completely content doing absolutely nothing beside.

Someone who has seen every version of me and loved me through all of them. The ambitious me. The exhausted me. The healing me. The stubborn me. The loud me. The quiet me. The version of me who has it all figured out and the one who very clearly does not.

We’ve grown individually, we’ve grown together, and we’ve built a life that younger versions of ourselves probably couldn’t have imagined.

And somewhere along the way, you stopped just being the person I fell in love with.

You became my best friend. My teammate. My ohana. My favorite person to come home to and my favorite person to leave home to explore the world with.

There are a million things I want to accomplish in this lifetime, and I’m nowhere near finished chasing them.

But when it comes to choosing the person I want standing beside me through all of it?

Yeah… I fucking nailed that one.

My biggest flex? I picked a good man.

I’ve always believed that the greatest love stories aren’t the loudest ones.

They’re written in the quiet moments.

In the hand that instinctively reaches for yours.
In the look across a crowded room that says, I’m here.
In the silence that never feels empty because simply being together is enough.

For so much of my life, I searched for a place where I could exist without explanation. Somewhere I didn’t have to earn my worth or hide pieces of who I was just to be loved.

Then I found you.

You became the place I exhale.

The place where every version of me is welcome. The strong one. The scared one. The ambitious one. The messy one. The version still healing. The version still learning. The version still becoming.

People often say marriage is finding your other half.

I don’t believe that.

I believe it’s finding someone who reminds you that you were whole all along… and then chooses to build a life beside you anyway.

Standing on that rooftop in Puerto Vallarta, surrounded by the people who have loved us through every chapter, I realized this day wasn’t about a wedding.

It was about finally finding home.

Not in a city.
Not in a country.
Not in a building.

In a person.

If love has taught me anything, it’s that forever isn’t made up of grand gestures. It’s built through a thousand ordinary moments, choosing each other over and over again until one day you realize those ordinary moments became the most extraordinary life.

So here’s to the sunsets we’ll chase.
The passports we’ll fill.
The dreams we’ll build.
The mornings we’ll wake up beside each other.
And every ordinary Monday in between.

Because you were never just the love of my life.

You became the life I always hoped was possible.

And if I were given a thousand lifetimes…

I’d spend every one of them finding my way back to you. 🤍
