This last month of having a little kid-free quiet time has been a lovely reset. It’s given me moments where I actually have the energy to get dressed, explore, and be out in the world.

But then the reality hits. I still miss the social scene, but can anyone else feel me on wanting the comfort of your core people? Like, I want to hang out with you, but I also want us to sit in the same room, laughing and eating good food.

When I tell you I’m so grateful for my siblings!!!

We make each other laugh (A LOT), we encourage shenanigans, we challenge TF outta each other and the ruptures we’ve had have allowed us to grow stronger and clearer in our relationships with each other. No matter what, we beating down the muthafuckin block for each other.

Mama would drill into us “United you stand, divided you fall” and we took that to heart.

Sometimes, a quick trip to the “garage” is the difference between a stressed mama and a positive core-memory mama garage ➡️ ✨

I used to think I just had to “tough it out” through the noise, the sticky fingers, and the overstimulation. But white-knuckling my way through motherhood only made me rigid and short-tempered.
The first time I tried “gardening” to manage my anxiety, it was like someone finally turned the volume down on the world. The static cleared, my patience returned, and for the first time in a long time, I could just... play.

The other night, that garage trip turned a “don’t touch me” evening into breakfast-for-dinner, a Bubble Guppies dance party, and a Zootopia 2 movie night. I wasn’t just “there”—I was present.

We talk a lot about “Self-Care,” but for me, it’s about whatever tools allow me to show up as the playful, engaging mother my kids deserve. No more shame in what brings me back to myself. 🔥🌬️

252 days. 6,050 hours. 363,018 minutes of holding my breath...

I have officially accepted a job offer and am no longer unemployed! 🥂✨

This has been one of THE most taxing seasons of my life. When the “unemployed” clock is ticking, it’s not just about the finances—it’s the psychological warfare. It’s the scratch on the vinyl, replaying questions of my worth and the terrifying “what ifs” of providing for me and mine.

I’m stepping into this new chapter with a mix of excitement and that lingering “scarcity mindset” whisper. The fear of losing it all again is real, but I’m trying to choose daily to trust in myself.

Doing this as a mom hits different. The “restart” feels twice as heavy when you’re carrying the emotional and physical weight of your littles, too. Not wanting them to worry…I’ve been trying to show up as my best self while my “low battery” light has been flashing for months.

I’m learning to course-correct in real-time. Pushing through when I have to, but also giving myself permission to lay TF down—because like I said, it’s A LOT.

To the women and mamas currently in the “waiting room” or the “struggle season”—I see you. I see the quiet battles you’re fighting while you’re making the PB&Js; the tears you try to keep from falling while folding the laundry. I’m repeating this to myself but also sharing with you, “Your worth is not tied to a paycheck or a title, even when the world makes you feel otherwise. You are the architect of your comeback. Keep going.”

Currently being outsmarted and outrun by a human who still needs help peeling a banana. 🍌🥴

My daughter has been treating bath time like a high-stakes game of Mission Impossible. The shrieks? Playful. The speed? Terrifying. My cardio for the year? COMPLETED.

Between the toddler wrestling and the “I don’t wanna!” negotiations, my brain is usually at 1% capacity. But in the middle of the chaos, I try my best to remember that these moments don’t last forever.

Before I know it, they’ll be grown and on their own. I have to believe that I’m raising them with the tools they need to be successful…whatever that looks like to them. If that includes a world-class ability to run through and demolish their problems, then we’re off to a great start. 😅

In the meantime, tag and hide-and-seek are a great laugh for us all. I’ll take the tired legs if it means keeping these core memories. ❤️✨

DTLA! Back with another review this one is for @zayadtla in downtown LA! It was my first time visiting them for their open mic night on Tuesday and I have been back twice since because I had such a great time!

Anything that involves R&B, music, good food, good vibes, and Black people I’m there!

The performers could saaaaaaaang, and I loved that they were playing all of our throwback R&B jams, and everyone in the spot was singing and dancing along.

@zayadtla is always a great time any night of the week so grab your friends, your boo or go solo and have a great time!
