📚 🧡 BOOK REVIEW | JANUARY AND JULY by Jeff Abbott 🧡📚

✨ Some thrillers entertain you. Others pull you into a world of secrets, danger, and questions that refuse to leave your mind.

🚂 January and July — a title that instantly sparks curiosity and promises a gripping mystery!

From its striking red-and-teal cover to its intriguing, upside-down figures, this book creates a sense of suspense even before you turn the first page. The train imagery, dramatic contrasts, and bold typography give it a dark, cinematic feel that perfectly suits a thriller.

🎨 First impressions? Absolutely intriguing!

The cover feels like a glimpse into a dangerous game where nothing is quite what it seems. It has that irresistible pick-me-up-and-see-what’s-inside appeal that every thriller lover understands. ❤️

📖 What caught my attention most?
❤️ The bold red-and-teal colour combination.
🚂 The dramatic train imagery.
🖤 The mysterious characters and suspenseful atmosphere.
✨ The cinematic design that makes this book stand out on a bookshelf.

🕵️ My bookish thought: A great thriller should make you question everything, suspect everyone, and keep turning pages for answers—and this book’s cover certainly sets the mood for a mysterious reading experience!

A book that catches your eye, sparks your curiosity, and makes you want to uncover the secrets hidden inside. 📚🔍

⭐ Cover appeal: 5/5
📚 On my radar for its intriguing thriller vibes! ❤️

📚 Bad Company by Sara Paretsky

Bad Company sounds like the kind of thriller that pulls you into a world of secrets, danger, and unexpected twists. What really caught my attention is Lily Sedako, a former CIA agent in her seventies who refuses to let retirement define her. When a magazine article raises troubling questions about her past, Lily decides to uncover the truth, even if it means confronting the very people she once worked for. I love the idea of an older woman taking charge of her own story, proving that courage and determination don't come with an expiry date. The mix of espionage, political intrigue, hidden agendas, and personal struggles makes this an intriguing read. If you enjoy smart thrillers with strong female characters, complex mysteries, and plenty of suspense, this one deserves a spot on your TBR! 🖤🔎📖

📖 Book Review | Bared Souls by Ellie Wade

Bared Souls is an intensely emotional romance that explores love, darkness, healing, and the kind of connection that feels impossible to escape. Alma and Leo’s relationship is filled with undeniable chemistry, vulnerability, and emotional conflict. Leo’s inner demons add a darker layer to the story, while Alma brings warmth and strength into his complicated world. What I loved most was how the story makes you feel the characters’ love rather than simply read about it. It’s heartbreaking, intense, and beautifully messy, with enough twists to keep you emotionally invested. If you enjoy dark contemporary romance, college romance, strong chemistry, and angsty love stories, this one is worth adding to your TBR. 🖤📖

A Song of Surrender is one of those books I found myself reading slowly because I wanted to take in every part of it. Shailaja Ganguly Ji has beautifully brought Hari Om Sharan Ji’s life, music, struggles and devotion together without making the story feel complicated.

What stayed with me was the way his personal journey becomes something much bigger - a lesson in faith, acceptance and finding peace within yourself. I also loved discovering the person behind the bhajans I had heard for years.

There is so much warmth in these pages. By the end, I felt calmer, more reflective and genuinely grateful for having read his story. Some books you finish and move on from; this one makes you sit quietly for a while.

💛⭐ A beautiful message wrapped in a fun story

Bright by Vincent G. Palumbo combines an engaging adventure with a message that feels genuinely valuable for children.

At its heart, the book is about friendship, imagination, confidence, and learning to appreciate your own uniqueness. 🌈✨

I liked that these themes are presented through the characters rather than simply explained. That makes the story enjoyable first and meaningful underneath.

The rhymes give it a wonderful read-aloud quality, and the illustrations add plenty of personality.

A warm, uplifting book that would make a lovely addition to any child’s collection. 📚🥰

💻🏔️ A computer programmer gives up his “dream” job and heads to the Himalayas, where a silent monk shows him the basics of the “codes of the mind” by teaching him a lesson, rather than a long lecture. 📖🧘 The narrative also incorporates elements of Vedic wisdom and wisdom gained in our contemporary work life, highlighting how paying attention, disciplining oneself and thinking clearly can be restored gradually. 🌿✨ It doesn’t say that you have to give up your dreams, it simply tells you how to change how you pursue your dreams so they feel authentic to you. 🌟

This book doesn’t try to change you—it helps you notice yourself. And that makes all the difference. The Monk Who Knew The Code approaches self-discovery in a calm, grounded way.
The coding analogy is not just creative; it’s effective. It shows how we repeat behaviors without realizing it, much like running the same program again and again.
While reading, I felt a quiet sense of awareness building. Not sudden realizations , but small shifts in perspective. The kind that grows over time.
The language is simple, but the ideas carry depth if you take the time to sit with them.
It’s a book that respects silence and reflection. Not loud, not dramatic—just honest and steady. A meaningful read for anyone willing to pause and look inward. by @themoonlight.24

"The Monk Who Knew the Code: Journey to the Self" is a story about a software engineer's breakdown and how he evolves from his failure. It presents a reflection for anyone who has ever felt lost in the noise of modern life, especially suffocated by expectations and disconnected from their own heart.

Aarav gets shattered on his demo failure due to some glitch and is requested by Maya to take a day off. Even with his grandmother’s gentle urging, Aarav takes a six-month sabbatical and journeys to the Himalayas in search of Sant Anant’s wisdom.

Here he learns a code not of technology, but of inner stability and peace. His journey to the Himalayas is a calming experience. He feels the tranquil lakes, flowing water, cool mountain air, and the quiet magic that modern life so rarely allows. The stillness helps him introspect and nurture a character in itself.

Through thoughtful analogies, the book poignantly explores what it means to live in constant fear of Slack notifications, meeting alerts, and unread messages. The writing is crisp and engaging, with no unnecessary detours.

Overall, it is fast-paced and accessible, yet layered with meaningful insights. It’s a thoughtful read for those who prefer calm, methodical inner-growth journeys over fast motivation.

🧠✨ Burnout isn’t the end… it’s the signal to return to yourself.

Aarav has everything, a successful tech career, stability, the “right” life.
Yet inside? Chaos, exhaustion, and a quiet sense of losing himself.

The Monk Who Knew The Code takes you from the noise of modern life to the stillness of the Himalayas, where Aarav discovers The Seven Codes of the Mind: not theories, but practical mental algorithms to break patterns of anxiety, distraction, and self-doubt.

What I loved most is how this book blends Vedic wisdom with modern-day struggles from burnout and overthinking to phone addiction and lack of purpose. It doesn’t preach escape. It teaches realignment.

🌿 Simple yet powerful takeaways:
• Find purpose beyond routine
• Reclaim focus in a distracted world
• Let go of mental clutter & emotional baggage
• Return to your true self, not a new version of it

📖 If you liked The Alchemist or The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari, this will feel like a grounded, practical evolution of those ideas.

👇 Are you feeling burned out… or just disconnected from yourself?

💾 Save this for when you need clarity, not motivation.

The book is a read that force of a thriller and will leave you breathless and unsettled. The story is a gripping, thought-provoking exploration of the unseen forces shaping our digital world. The characters are compelling, the pacing is sharp, and the tension is palpable. This is a book that will stay with you long after the final page, making you think about the trust we place in technology.
What I liked: The way the narrative balances high-stakes cyber threats with deeply human struggles, making every moment feel heavier. The believable characters, flawed and human, under pressure.
What I didn't like: The technical elements, although explained without overwhelming the reader, did feel a bit too realistic - it's a bit unsettling to think about the implications.
What truly elevates this book is its emotional resonance alongside the technical intrigue. The stakes never feel artificial, and the danger always seems just one step away from reality. While the realism can be disturbing, it also adds credibility and urgency to the story. Readers looking for a smart, intelligent thriller will find this deeply satisfying. It’s the kind of book that doesn’t fade easily and continues to echo in your thoughts. by @themoonlight.24
