This is Lazymung Mungstar. I haven’t decided if Lazymung is a separate character from Mung or just a different form. Lazymung is just Mung, but his is energy toned down a little. Mung is so happy and excited. For Lazymung I thought about keeping that joy, then making him a little lazy. taken in Beverly Hills, California by @themungstars

This is Mungwood Mungstar hand-crafted from solid ash hardwood. She is the very first statue made using the Mung Mungstar design. Despite being dissimilar in material, she is the mother of the pet rock litter.

A little bit of everything I’ve been working on. The Mungstars started with a ring I made while working as a jeweler’s apprentice. Since then, I’ve kept finding new ways to bring the Mungs to life through sculpture, furniture, and other things you can live with. Seeing it all together makes me excited to keep going. So many little things have added up to influence the kind of work that I make now. When I first committed to a career in art, I imagined myself only mastering one material. As I kept working, I got so curious about trying out everything else. Following your curiosity and leaving room to connect things that may seem unrelated is important for making good art. If you feel like your interests are too varied, just give yourself some more time. Theres a chance things may connect in unexpected ways, but they definitely won’t connect if you’ve already decided they can’t. taken in Los Angeles, California by @themungstars

This ring is the first Mungstar design I ever made before they were even called Mungstars. I made this ring as a personal project while working as a jeweler’s apprentice. It was inspired by a t-shirt I had with Keith Haring’s barking dog on the back. I’ve seen Ouroboros rings where a snake wraps around a finger. I wanted to make a version with a dog. I added toes to mimic a Greek key pattern. This Mungstar has little teeth too. taken in Los Angeles, California by @themungstars
