Hi I’m Scarlett and this is Finley my rescued mutt💜

I haven’t officially introduced myself for all the new people on my page so here it is!

Working with dogs and all animals have always been a passion of mine and I am very happy and thankful that I have gotten to make this my full time job.

Thank you to all my current clients for trusting me with your pups, it’s not easy leaving your pets with other people especially if they’ve had a bad experience at another grooming salon. But seeing a dog thrive is why I do what I do! I’m here to answer all your questions and help you feel at ease when you bring your pups to me

This also goes hand in hand with another passion of mine: opening @thepawsocial.markham where your dogs can live their life freely! Literally flying through our huge outdoor space 😂

Is your dog reactive to new strange noises and tools?
Has your dog had a bad grooming experience?
Is your dog reactive to being physically handled?
Is your dog reactive in general?

I am someone who is big on advocating for your dogs even if it makes your life as the owner a little harder. Taking the extra few steps to ensure the safety of your dog is something that can change their life forever. Sharing as much information with your groomer about their behavior and past experience can help set them up for success

As a groomer that works HANDS ON with multiple dogs a day, I cannot express enough how CRUCIAL it is to disclose all behavioral concerns with them.

❗️Not disclosing information can put the groomer and your dog in a very risky situation. If we know their triggers and what to watch out for, this will help us work through whatever stresses them out. Sometimes it takes months or even years to help correct or overcome any issues.

If your dog is reactive and has any sort of nipping/bite history, you should be looking for a groomer that is equipped to handle them. This is physically and mentally, dogs feed off of the emotions of the people they are surrounded with, learning how to work with reactive dogs is not easy it takes practice and A LOT (cannot stress this enough) of patience.

Finding the right groomer for your pup takes time, most dogs don’t enjoy the bath and drying part so helping them overcome that and simply getting through the groom in a positive environment is what you’re aiming for. If your dog is reactive or fussy during the groom, please don’t get upset at the groomers if your dog doesn’t look perfect!

Also here to mention, different grooming salon environments have different impact on them. Some dogs are good with bigger salons with multiple dogs at a time while some prefer private one on one with less stimulation and some dogs even prefer the groomer come to your house since they know they’re in their safe place!

Find what works for your dog and advocate for them because they cannot!!

❗️this also applies to dog daycares, trainers and veterinarians❗️ by @themuttleyspaw

Spring & Summer is here in full blast and the critters are all out now!
What to do if your dog gets sprayed by a skunk?

‼️DO NOT BATHE THEM‼️
Soaking them in water will spread the oils around and soak into their skin. This will cause them to be irritated and stinky for a longer period of time.

If you cannot find a grooming professional to do this in time, this is remedy that has worked for me:

1/4 cup of baking soda (add more if you want it more paste than watery)
3 teaspoons of dawn dish soap
2 cups of peroxide

1. Create a paste foaming mixture of the 3 ingredients
2. Lather mixture onto the dog and work well into the coat
3. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes
4. If sprayed around the eyes, use a washcloth for the face
5. Rinse with warm water
6. Repeat if needed
7. Follow with a skunk/deodorizing shampoo let that sit in for 3-5 mins and then use regular shampoo
8. OPTIONAL but I always like to end off with a hydrating conditioner as the deskunking mixture can be drying

Always keep an eye on your dog after it’s been sprayed by a skunk, irritation can occur especially around the eyes and face! It can take up to 6 months for the smell to go away and every time they get wet (rain or swimming) you will smell it a bit more.

I currently do offer an emergency skunk bath option where I will try my best to fit you in asap! by @themuttleyspaw

Visit @sweet_acres_pig_santuary in Stouffville for a day of fun with family and friends 💗

Kirsten is an absolutely gem of a human. She took in abandoned pigs, chicken and duck who all just needed a home where they are loved. And she did just that. The amount of sacrifice she has made is unimaginable and we would love to support!

We ask our community to show your support by either visiting the farm (just 25 min away from Markham) or there is a donation link directly on their website!

Comment “DONATE” and I will directly message you their official donation link.

There needs to be more people like Kirsten in this world! Thank you for everything you do for these babies 💗 by @themuttleyspaw

❗️LATE FEES❗️

As I operate as a private 1 on 1, I have a strict schedule to ensure dogs do not overlap or meet outside. Many dogs come to me for the purpose of their dog being the only one in the salon for many reasons (anxiety, over stimulation, reactivity)

PLEASE RESPECT my time, I will always give a 15/20 minutes heads up before your dog will be done and if you need more notice you can let me know beforehand at drop off. As much as I love the extra cuddle time with them, this causes a disruption to my schedule and could also mean I don’t get any breaks or lunch time.

Late drop off:
There is a 10 minute grace period for drop off but if you are over the 10 minutes it will be considered a no show (no show fee will be applied) as I won’t have enough time to finish the groom

Late pick up :
After the 15/20 minutes heads up, if you are later then the time expected there will be a late fee added into the grooming cost that will need to be paid prior to next grooming appointment

Cancellations/no show:
I require a 24 hour notice prior to your appointment if you’d like to cancel. This gives me a bit of time to reach out to the ones on my waitlist waiting for an appointment spot! If you are under the 24 hrs there will be a fee that needs to be paid before your next appointment

No show appointments will be required to pay the full groom cost prior to their next appointment

Thank you to all my amazing clients, feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions!🥰 by @themuttleyspaw

🐾 Paws for a Cause | @thepawsocial.markham

Not all animals are as lucky as the ones we care for daily. That’s why this August, we’re turning our focus to a shelter in Inner Mongolia that truly needs our support.

This shelter is run by our dear friend’s aunt, who uses her life savings and monthly retirement pension to care for 97 dogs and 33 cats. With little local support, she’s doing everything she can—but she can’t do it alone.

💛 We’ve launched a @gofundmeca to raise funds, which we will personally send to her via WeChat (with proof).

🎁 To thank you for your generosity, every donor will be entered to win a $500 gift basket featuring goodies from @adrmarkham @petite.paire @ohmy.dogness @electricpetscanada @jumpingjake_dogco @thepawsocial.markham and more!

🔗 Link in bio to donate!

Let’s show that our community’s love knows no borders. Every bit helps. 🙏
