I did my friend’s nails yesterday.

My friend owns a dance studio. We were chatting about life, motherhood, owning a business and realized we’re both tired. A little defeated in this season. I think this week, or maybe even October brings that out in most of us.

I jokingly said I think it’s because I haven’t worn a cowboy hat in a while. Which led me to thinking maybe I need another photoshoot in my hats. She shared that she cancelled her last shoot. She just doesn’t have it in her right now. *felt*

So I suggested we do a photoshoot together, everything is better with your girlfriends right? She asked what would we say?

“Bring your kids to dance here, get your nails done here”

Immediately YES! Because how real is it that we are just too tired to come up with a relatable story? How real is it that keeping up with a.I apps is exhausting? How real is it that we’re burnt out from this app constantly telling us what we should be doing or telling us we aren’t quite good enough?

I’m reminded this week that when I started this whole thing I would literally just post a picture of my work and say book here, I’m available this day and time.

And there’s something so nostalgic about that simplicity.

So anyways, book your nails here. I opened up my books a bit because I miss offering the service and talking with my girls.

The not - so sexy story behind The Nail Room ⤵️

My name is Amber, I own and founded The Nail Room, and I am a survivor of domestic abuse and violence.

I was attacked while 8 months pregnant with my son. And had hands wrapped around my neck while he slept in his bassinet.

When I left Texas and came back to Rochester I took some time to sit in the safety of being home. And when I was ready, I opened The Nail Room in a small private suite where the door could be locked behind me.

My mission statement: Create a safe space for women to enjoy luxury services while building community.

As we evolve and grow, I hold onto that mission so tightly. The world is heavy right now for women. We’re just sort of tired and scared and angry.

So, if there’s nowhere else you can go, please know The Nail Room is a safe space for you. Safe to cry and laugh and talk shit and share stories and even just sit for a while.

Coffee and tea are always available, your kids are always welcome, and the door code is just a text a way.

Proof I’m better than AI: this took me two hours and zero gallons of water 💅

AI can generate perfect nails in four seconds flat. Cool. It also needed a data center, a small lake, and it still gave the girl six fingers.

Mine took two hours, one e-file, and hands that actually know what they’re doing. No filters, no renders — just cuticle work so clean it looks fake.

Real > generated. Every single time.

The most requested set in my DMs right now is the one everyone said was over. 💅

She drives 45 minutes past 6 nail salons to get here. 🚗

When I asked her why, she said: “Nobody else takes their time with me.”

And that sat with me all day. Because here’s what I know after doing this for years — women don’t drive past 6 salons for polish.
