Marshall… Thank you for giving me your unconditional love. Caring for you and showing you comfort and happiness selfishly made me feel so happy. You brought us so much joy 🤎 My heart is completely shattered without you, not having you by my side seems impossible. Thank you to @jillwatkins5 @bambijilldawson for caring for Marshall so beautifully in his last unexpected moments while we were abroad. And thank you to @doodlerockrescue , @bdkastanek and @monicadaniec for saving him off the freezing streets and choosing me be his foster and Mom. @chew_animal_clinic @hpanimalhospital @blinkeyevets thank you all for the medical care you provided this sweet soul. From treating his heart worms, to his eye conditions, to his allergies, he lived healthy and happy last years thanks to you. 💔 Marshall- in your memory I promise to keep fostering and giving older dogs the best last years of life. At 6:30am on Saturday, April 25th, 2026, we completed the Inca Trail Hike to Machu Picchu. 28 miles over 4 rainy days, 3 nights camping, climbing to 14,000 ft at Dead Woman’s Pass (and doing it again the same day to 13,000 ft at Runkuracay). This trek, and especially the wet slippery stone steps in the rain, pushed me more than I expected.

My top moment was reaching the Sun Gate (Inti Punku), after hiking for 4 hours thru the night on the last day. It was the first breathtaking viewpoint that made the blisters and bruises worth it. More importantly, it’s where the Incas would enter and first see Machu Picchu, which is believed to have been built@around 1450 AD.

Huge shoutout to Alpaca Expeditions @trekwithalpaca
and our amazing guides Samanez and Hans (@hanseljunioralvarez ) for making this tough, multi-day trek the most rewarding accomplishment.

I’ll share the “labor pains” and interesting facts later… but right now, I’m just proud (and still recovering) that we made it. 🥾⛰️⛺️🦙 My lesson in mind over matter and All Grit No Quit. 💪

Animals make my life better. When the world is too heavy, they are my happy place and my perfect escape. They don’t judge, they don’t lie, they don’t love with conditions… they meet you right where you are and remind you to live in the now. Yesterday is over and tomorrow isn’t promised. What they bring into my life is why I foster, it’s why I provide water and food to wild birds and critters, it’s why I support so many dog and wildlife rescues, and why I beg others to consider supporting them too. A sweet memory… Marshall would do whatever it took to go wherever I was going…. He loved car rides, meeting people, dogs, and experiencing new things. I pray that in heaven we will be reunited. 💗🌈
if you want the best dog you’ll ever have, consider adopting an older one. You’ll change their life and I promise it’ll change yours in the best way possible.
