Only a couple of days left to register for our next Teen Art Experience class! Art Experience, Teen Edition: Friday, November 6th at 6:00 pm! Make some art with us inspired by our current exhibit: stella alesi’s I want to talk about you. The teens will be painting this time, filling up their canvas with stripes of vibrant colors just like alesi uses in her sculptures and paintings. It’ll be a great way to practice painting straight lines and experimenting with color patterns. Registration is always free! At our recent lesson with the kids at The Boys & Girls Club, they had fun making colorful drawings inspired by the pop art of Roy Lichtenstein. Lichtenstein was an artist who painted large scale comic book inspired art. His paintings brought the style of comics and advertisements into the world of fine art. He used bold outlines, vibrant colors and hand painted dots and lines in many of artworks. The students at the Boys and Girls club made their own colorful drawings using dots, lines and bold outlines. They used markers to color places and people in this bright, fun style. They always make such amazing art! #ArtOutreach #YouthOutreach #drawing #KidsArtPrograms #artlesson by @thenavemuseum

Vibrant, colorful paintings and sculptures are at the center of our current exhibit: “I want to talk about you” the art of stella alesi Alesi is an Austin-based artist whose works explore the relationship between artist and viewer. Her wooden sculptures and oil paintings depict abstract shapes that invite the viewer to come to their own conclusion about what they see in her art. Her squishy series focuses on the unique shapes created under pressure. The dark shape is solid but when pressed on the colorful, squishy shape, it creates something dynamic and open to interpretation. What do you see in her art? Stop by The Nave to see more of her art on display until December 1st!
