Amouage Guidance - An Endless Spell ✨

Some fragrances smell beautiful. A rare few feel like magic 🪄

Guidance is one of them. A spellbinding creation crafted by master perfumer Quentin Bisch 🙌🏼

It begins with a luminous pear, glowing like a lantern at the edge of an enchanted forest. Then the flowers arrive - soft, delicate, almost innocent. But don’t be fooled. That sweetness is merely the first spell 😮‍💨

Guidance reminds me of an enchantress who never calls anyone by name. She simply walks through the woods, leaving whispers of magic in her wake, until one day you realize you’ve been following her all along

With every passing hour, another charm is revealed: creamy woods, silken florals, and quiet shadows beneath the light. Every note feels intentional. Every accord knows exactly where the story is headed 📖

Then there’s Guidance 46 - the same enchantment told by moonlight. Guidance blooms with radiant light, while Guidance 46 lingers in the shadows. One captivates with its brilliance; the other with its depth. Different paths through the same enchanted woods, each leading to the same magic.🧛🏻‍♂️

Of the two, it’s Guidance that casts the stronger spell on me. Its magic doesn’t just end on skin - It lingers in scarves, drifts through empty hallways, and waits on forgotten door handles until someone finally asks, “What are you wearing?”

10 Designer “Private line” Masterpieces 🎩🍾🖤

I have always thought of a fragrance collection as a little like a dinner party. There are the regular guests: familiar favourites, trusted signatures, and the bottles you instinctively reach for time and time again.
But the best dinner parties need a few interesting characters too. Every now and then, someone unexpected arrives, steals the evening, and leaves you wondering why you didn’t invite them sooner 😄

For me, many of those have come from the private line collections of the world’s great fashion houses. Chanel, Dior, Guerlain, Armani, Louis Vuitton, Celine, Versace and others have quietly created some of the finest fragrances in modern perfumery 🙌🏼

Here are 10 that I consider truly exceptional:

Psychédélique by Jovoy Paris - My Heisenberg 🎩

Psychédélique has been one of the cornerstones of my collection for years, earning its place alongside my all-time favourites. It’s also a fragrance that has travelled the world with me, creating memories with every journey 🪄

I first discovered it through Sebastian “theperfumeguy”, who called it the greatest patchouli fragrance ever made. I don’t usually chase recommendations, but I hunted down a bottle in London and from the very first sniff, I understood the hype. Mighty thanks to Sebastian 🙌🏼

This isn’t just patchouli - It’s an intoxicating blend of dark chocolate, rich patchouli, warm amber, creamy vanilla, and the faintest hint of a dark rose, beautifully composed by master perfumer Jacques Flori. I’ve owned and loved many patchouli fragrances over the years, but while they’re all excellent, Psychédélique is the Walter White... the Heisenberg 🎩

Bold. Elegant. Excuisite. Addictive. A masterpiece every fragrance lover should experience 🔥

Gucci – The Voice of the Snake 🐍

A couple of confessions before we begin:
Patchouli is my favourite note and ‘The Voice of the Snake’ holds a permanent place in my collection 🖤

Part of Gucci’s The Alchemist’s Garden collection, created by master perfumer Alberto Morillas, this fragrance draws inspiration from one of Gucci’s most enduring symbols: the snake. Built around patchouli, leather, oud and warm woods, it is dark, enigmatic, and unapologetically bold, while being exquisitely smooth. As someone with a weakness for patchouli, this fragrance had my attention from the start 🎩

My first wear was on a freezing late November night in Le Marais in Paris. Armed with an Aquascutum mac coat 🧥 against the cold and the fragrance for confidence, I found myself waiting in line outside a busy bar. A few moments later, the hostess walked over, smiled, and said:
« Si vous me dites le nom du parfum que vous portez, je vous fais passer devant tout le monde. »
(“If you tell me the name of the fragrance you’re wearing, I’ll let you skip the queue.”)

Safe to say, The Voice of the Snake made quite the introduction 🥂🪄

The name commands attention, the bottle is a work of art, and the scent lingers somewhere between seduction and sophistication 🖤

Tucked away on Via Vittoria, Campomarzio70 is one of those rare spaces where perfumery, art, and design come together so effortlessly that it’s impossible not to linger 😮‍💨

One of the highlights is the boutique’s exclusive selection from Liberty London, where exceptional fragrances sit alongside beautiful art pieces rarely found beyond the iconic London store. Add to that boutique-exclusive creations from houses such as Anomalia Paris, D’Orsay, and Ex Nihilo, and it quickly becomes the kind of destination that perfume lovers could happily spend hours exploring 🪄

A heartfelt thank you to Lucia and Denise for taking the time to share the stories behind the boutique and its carefully curated collection. Their warmth, knowledge, and passion made the experience all the more memorable. Highly recommend meeting them for a grand showcase of the store 🙌🏼

There’s something about discovering fragrances while travelling. The boutiques, the conversations, the thrill of an unexpected find - Every bottle becomes part of the journey. And somehow, Rome always plays its part 🇮🇹

I couldn’t leave the Eternal City without a few exceptional additions (and a couple of well-deserved refills):

Creed Oud Zarian - A masterpiece born from patience 🎩✨

I’ve had long-standing relationships with only a handful of Creeds - Royal Oud, Royal Mayfair, and Aventus. They aren’t just bottles on a shelf, they’re fragrances I’ve lived with - each tied to memories, places, and moments in time.

In absolute honesty, Oud Zarian wasn’t a hit at first sniff. My first impression immediately took me to Royal Tobacco from Amouage - unsurprising, perhaps, with both bearing the signature of master perfumer Cécile Zarokian. Rather than rushing to a conclusion, I sampled it through different cities, different climates, and different moods during my recent travels. As I was moments away from buying another bottle of my familiar Amouage, I decided to give Oud Zarian the opportunity to reveal itself instead. I haven’t looked back since 🥃

Built around the extraordinary 80 year aged Oud Choron from Bangladesh; Zarokian frames it with luminous frankincense, liquorice root, and refined woods, creating a composition that feels both timeless and unmistakably modern 🤟🏼

Oud Zarian has already earned its place in my permanent collection, and in a few days it will be travelling with me to Antibes. Here’s hoping the next chapter of its story becomes one of my favourite memories 🧳
