Ever since I was a kid I’ve loved the 4th of July. I love America and the freedom and idealism it stands for. It certainly isn’t perfect, and lately there are those in power doing everything they can to test this great American experiment. It’s scary, upsetting, and disheartening. But those of us, the true patriots, who believe in the idea of America and everything it stands for, can never stop fighting for that idea. And I think America is and has always been an idea. So this 4th of July I celebrate 250 years of that idea, may there be many more 🇺🇸 taken in Lake Arrowhead, California by @thenicoletorres

Life is the sum of its parts. As I reflect on 2025, my initial perception was that it was a terrible year. Politically, 2025 was one of the worst years in recent history. Domestically marred by a presidency that has left a stain on the soul of America, and countless atrocities abroad. For much of this year I felt weighed down by a heaviness and sadness I had never experienced before, driven by the state of the world. Disillusionment at all the blatant corruption, hatred, racism, and evil and how it seems to be winning. But then, as I scrolled through my camera roll, I was reminded of all the wonderful moments. The time spent with family and friends, traveling, exciting achievements, adventures, and new experiences. Littered throughout the chaos were many joyful moments. And that’s the reality of life. The good mixed in with all the bad. And we can choose to let all of the darkness of this world weigh us down, or we can choose to be hopeful. So that’s my resolution for 2026: Hope. To always choose hope and never let the darkness win. May hope be with you always 💚 taken in Planet Earth by @thenicoletorres
