Happy weekend of love! ❤️

This is one of the rare truly hidden gems still in existence on our peninsula - that's right, this heart shaped cave or arch is 100% real!
It is only accessible at low tide, and involves a bit of scrambling over rocks and pools to get to it, but it is very much worth it.

Interesting facts: Gold doubloons from a Portuguese shipwreck were discovered in the crevices here, and archaeological excavations at the site have uncovered Bronze Age and Roman remains!

A little Nim life update: He was neutered on Monday and aside from being groggy after anaesthetic for the first night, he has bounced back like nothing happened.
We made this decision based on how the chemical castration worked for him. Some unwanted behaviours had returned since the implant wore off. Like marking, humping, roaming and aggression towards big dogs - we are hopeful those should all settle again in the next few months.

He has to take it easy for a couple of weeks but I took him to work with me at the tulip fields today as a treat, and it was lovely to watch him sniff the spring air and get some sunshine!

Life by the sea! 🌊

Aside from 7 years or so as a child expat in the Middle East, I have always lived by the sea - both in North Wales, and now South Wales. I don't think I could ever live in a bustling city or crowded town, it's a quiet lifestyle for me!

Coastal living has real, everyday health benefits for both of us. Fresh, salty air helps clear my head, combat stress and get better sleep. For Nim, it’s regular exercise in open spaces where he can really RUN. There is ample room for training and games, plus there are loads of new smells daily - all of which results in a dog who’s happy and calm at home.

We're also lucky to live near woodlands and forests, which I'll talk about in a separate post - there really is so much beauty on the Welsh peninsulas! 🙂

Woodland Wandering! 🌲

As well as plentiful beaches, we are also surrounded by many woodlands and forests here - if you haven't visited the Gower Peninsula in South Wales yet then you are missing out!

The woods are where we go to reduce stress and soak in the sounds and smells that put us back on an even keel from modern life. As Spring returns soon, they will BURST into life again, however I definitely think Autumn is my fave season to explore them! taken in Gower Peninsula by @thenimblewhippet

Mountain hikes have a way of putting everything back into perspective, don't they?
Somewhere up there between the leg burn and heavy breathing, my head shuts up - that’s the bit that’s worth it for me.

Views and reaching the peak are a bonus of course, but years of hiking the tallest mountains in the country (long before trig bagging and social media was a thing) have taught me that I don't go for the views or the photographs, I go because the world is loud and the mountains are still.

Hoping to take Nimble up a few more this year because he scrambles over rocks like a pro then sleeps for two days straight 🙌🤣

💙 HAPPY 3RD BIRTHDAY, NIMBLE! 💙

Three years ago today, somewhere out there, a tiny blue whippet was born… completely unaware of the level of pure NONSENSE he was about to bring to my world 😂

Three years later, he's grown up, but thankfully he hasn't grown out of being a completely ridiculous whirlwind.
My adventure buddy, my shadow, my little weirdo and quite possibly the most spoilt whippet in Wales.

Happy birthday to my completely bonkers, beautiful boy!

And because the birthday boy deserves a proper celebration, something VERY exciting is happening at 6pm - keep your eyes peeled! 👀

The heather across the Downs has been beautiful again this year, especially once the evening light starts to soften and gives everything a warm glow. A favourite place for a walk, and an even better place to watch the sun go down.
