POSTS STORIES REELS

There was a time when I only knew the Northern Lights through stories and photos—a dream waiting to be lived. Then, I saw them for the first time in Iceland—an unforgettable moment, yet the magic never fades. And now, under the Arctic sky once again, that dream feels just as surreal.

Every journey, every wait, every night spent searching was leading me here. Some dreams are written in the stars, waiting for the right night to shine—again and again. Because some wonders aren’t meant to be experienced just once, but as many times as the heart desires. And of course, some journeys take years, but when the moment finally arrives, you realize it was always meant for you. ✨❄️

🇫🇷 Bayeux: A Tribute to the Battle of Normandy, 1944

🏛️ The Musée Mémorial de la Bataille de Normandie in Bayeux tells the powerful story of the Battle of Normandy in 1944, commemorating the Allied landings on D-Day and the fierce battles that followed to liberate France from Nazi occupation.

🪖 Outside the museum, the display of military tanks and armoured vehicles offers a glimpse into the machinery of war and the challenges faced by the soldiers who fought for freedom.

🚧 The museum grounds also feature a concrete anti-tank tetrahedron, a formidable obstacle designed to impede the movement of enemy tanks, offering a tangible reminder of the defensive measures used during the war. Nearby, the iconic red British telephone booth 🇬🇧 evokes the historic connection between Britain and the liberation of Normandy.

🕊️ At the nearby Bayeux War Cemetery, more than 4,000 Commonwealth servicemen lie at rest, alongside soldiers of other nationalities. The peaceful rows of white headstones honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice during the liberation of Europe.

❤️ Together, these places preserve the memory of courage, sacrifice and freedom, reminding us that peace came at an extraordinary human cost.

🌹 Lest we forget

⛪ Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Bayeux: A Thousand Years of History 🕰️

Standing proudly in the heart of Bayeux, the magnificent Notre-Dame Cathedral was consecrated in 1077 in the presence of William the Conqueror 👑. Its architecture blends Romanesque and Gothic styles, reflecting centuries of faith, art, and history. It is also closely connected to the famous Bayeux Tapestry, which tells the story of the Norman conquest of England in 1066.

Beneath the cathedral, hidden traces of the past reveal another chapter of its history 🕯️. Ancient architectural remains, old painted decorations, and medieval details offer glimpses into life centuries ago, preserving the beauty and mysteries of another age.

During the Second World War, Bayeux was spared much of the destruction that devastated other Norman towns. The cathedral survived the Battle of Normandy, and the city was liberated on 7 June 1944, just one day after D-Day 🇫🇷. Bayeux became an important centre for the wounded, displaced civilians, and the rebuilding of liberated France. Its cathedral stood as a symbol of hope, resilience, and continuity amid the devastation of war 🕊️.

Walking through this sacred place feels like travelling through a thousand years of history, where every stone, painting, and shadow carries echoes of the past, from medieval kings to the liberation of Normandy✨

🌊 My First Swim in the Atlantic- Omaha Beach, Normandy 🇫🇷

Some moments become unforgettable not just because of what we do, but because of where we do them. ❤️

For the first time in my life, I swam in the Atlantic Ocean, and not just anywhere, but at the historic Omaha Beach in Normandy.

Just a few hours earlier, the tide had covered much of the beach. Slowly, the water began to retreat, revealing the vast stretch of sand and leaving the ocean within reach. As I stepped into its cold waves, I found myself swimming in the same waters that witnessed the D-Day landings on 6 June 1944 — waters that became stained with the blood of the thousands who fought and sacrificed their lives on these shores.

It was a strange and humbling feeling. The ocean that once carried soldiers towards one of the most defining moments in history was now gently washing against me. The waves had changed, the world had changed, and the beach had grown quiet, but its history remains forever present.

As the tide slowly pulled back, I couldn’t help thinking about how the sea keeps moving, returning and retreating, while the memories of those who never made it back to shore remain etched into history.

My first swim in the Atlantic, at Omaha Beach- where the beauty of the ocean meets the weight of history, and every wave tells a story we must never forget 🌊🕊️

Les Braves – A Tribute to Courage, Freedom and Sacrifice 🇫🇷🕊️

Standing proudly in the sea at Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer, overlooking Omaha Beach, Les Braves is a striking memorial dedicated to the Allied soldiers who landed here on D-Day, 6 June 1944, to fight for the liberation of France during World War II.

Created by French artist Anilore Banon, the monument was inaugurated on 5 June 2004, on the eve of the 60th anniversary of D-Day. Its three soaring steel sculptures represent The Wings of Hope, Rise of Freedom, and The Wings of Fraternity.

More than just a monument, Les Braves symbolises the courage, sacrifice, and unity of those who risked their lives for freedom. Standing in the waves, it reminds us of the immense price paid for peace and the importance of remembering those who never returned home.

Today, as the waves gently wash around it, this memorial stands as a timeless tribute to bravery, hope, and the enduring human spirit🇫🇷🕊️

🇫🇷 Exploring Omaha Beach and Widerstandsnest 65

I started my journey at the Normandy American Cemetery and walked all the way towards Omaha Beach, following a sandy coastal path winding between trees and bushes. It felt like a little hike, with nature surrounding me and history waiting around every corner.

At Widerstandsnest 65 (WN 65), I explored the remains of a German defensive position overlooking Omaha Beach, where American troops landed on D-Day, 6 June 1944. The site includes an anti-tank gun emplacement, used to defend the coastline against approaching Allied forces.

Nearby, the US Navy SEALs and Naval Combat Demolition Units Monument honours the naval teams who risked their lives clearing obstacles to help Allied troops land. An original Czech hedgehog stands there too-a heavy steel obstacle designed to obstruct landing craft and prevent vehicles from reaching the shore.

Walking along the sand, through the trees and bushes, and discovering these historic sites made the experience feel like a mix of a peaceful coastal hike and a journey back in time. A beautiful landscape carrying the memory of extraordinary courage and sacrifice🕊️

Inside the Normandy American Cemetery Museum 🇺🇸🎖️

After visiting the cemetery, I stepped inside the museum to learn more about the history behind the D-Day landings and the soldiers who fought during World War II.

The exhibitions bring history closer to you through photographs, historical objects, military equipment, uniforms, and personal items that help tell the stories of the people who lived through those difficult times.

One of the things that caught my attention was the military jeep, a reminder of the vehicles used by Allied forces to transport soldiers, carry supplies, and move across the battlefields. Seeing it up close makes it easier to imagine the challenges soldiers faced as they advanced through unfamiliar territory.

The military uniforms and clothing on display also tell their own stories. Every detail reflects the conditions in which soldiers lived and fought, from the equipment they carried to the clothing they wore during their missions.

As you move through the exhibitions, photographs and historical displays help explain the planning, courage, and enormous effort behind the Allied landings in Normandy on 6 June 1944 — a day that became a turning point in the liberation of Western Europe.

What makes this experience meaningful is that history stops feeling like something you only read in books. The objects, photographs, and displays offer a more personal connection to the people behind the events.

Visiting the cemetery reminds us of the sacrifices made, while exploring the museum helps us understand the history behind them.

Because remembering history is not just about knowing what happened. It is about understanding the people, their struggles, and the price paid for freedom. 🕊️

Normandy American Cemetery 🇺🇸🕊️

Overlooking the peaceful shores of Omaha Beach in France, the Normandy American Cemetery is a place of remembrance, sacrifice, and gratitude.

Spread across beautifully maintained grounds, thousands of white marble crosses and Stars of David stand in perfect rows, honouring the American soldiers who lost their lives during World War II, particularly during the D-Day landings and the Battle of Normandy in June 1944.

One of the most striking sights here is the giant bronze statue, The Spirit of American Youth Rising from the Waves. Standing tall in the centre of the memorial, it symbolises the courage, sacrifice, and determination of the young American soldiers who gave their lives for freedom. Its powerful presence makes you reflect on the bravery of those who crossed the ocean to fight for a cause greater than themselves.

Nearby, a large engraved map traces the Allied operations during the Normandy campaign, showing the landing beaches and the routes taken by Allied forces as they advanced inland. Looking at the map helps you understand the scale of the operation and how the landings marked the beginning of the liberation of Western Europe from Nazi occupation.

Walking through the cemetery is a deeply moving experience. The silence, the endless rows of white markers, and the view of the sea make you pause and reflect on the true cost of freedom.

Behind every cross lies a life, a family, and a future that was never lived. These soldiers may be far from home, but their sacrifice remains part of history.

Some places are not just meant to be visited, but felt, understood, and remembered🕊️

🇫🇷✨ Paris, 14 July 2026 - celebrating Bastille Day (La Fête nationale), France’s national holiday.

The tradition dates back to 14 July 1789, when the storming of the Bastille became a symbol of the French Revolution. The date was later officially adopted as France’s national day in 1880. Today, it is celebrated across France with military parades, concerts, gatherings, fireworks, and spectacular shows around the Eiffel Tower. 🗼🎆

In Paris, the night comes alive with the iconic Eiffel Tower fireworks and a breathtaking drone show - a beautiful blend of history, tradition, and modern celebration. 🇫🇷✨

Dining above the Rhine Valley- Masescha, Liechtenstein🇱🇮

Masescha is a peaceful mountain settlement above Triesenberg in Liechtenstein, at around 1,200 metres above sea level, surrounded by spectacular Alpine scenery. 🇱🇮🏔️

One of the highlights here is Berggasthaus Masescha, a mountain restaurant beautifully located on the hillside with breathtaking panoramic views. From the restaurant, you can look across the Rhine Valley, with the city and villages spread out below, the Rhine River winding through the valley, and the Swiss border and mountains visible in the distance. 🇨🇭

I ended my visit at Berggasthaus Masescha with dinner, sitting back and enjoying the incredible sunset as the last light touched the mountains. Good food, peaceful surroundings and those panoramic views of the valley, river and Swiss Alps made it a truly memorable evening. 🌅🏔️🍽️

During my business trip, I was lucky enough to visit the Regierung des Fürstentums Liechtenstein (Government of the Principality of Liechtenstein) in Vaduz with our office colleagues. 🇱🇮 Normally, this building is not open to the public, which made the visit even more special.

The historic Government Building was constructed between 1903 and 1905 and originally brought together several of the country’s important state institutions under one roof, including the government, parliament, courts and other public offices. Today, it serves as the seat of the Government of Liechtenstein, where government members and officials work and official meetings take place.

During our visit, we learned more about the fascinating history of the Principality and its monarchy, how the government functions, and the roles and responsibilities of the people working within these institutions.

Afterwards, we visited Liechtenstein’s oldest theatre, where we had a private screening and learned even more about the Princely Family- their way of life, their role in the country, and their responsibilities as members of the monarchy.

It was a truly fascinating experience and a unique opportunity to gain an insight into the history, government and royal traditions of one of Europe’s smallest countries. 🇱🇮✨

🇱🇮 Vaduz - the charming capital of Liechtenstein

During my business trip to Liechtenstein, I got the chance to step away from work and explore Vaduz, the country’s small but beautiful capital, surrounded by the stunning Alps. 🏔️

One of the city’s most famous landmarks is Vaduz Castle, perched high on the mountainside overlooking the town. The castle is still the private residence of the Princely Family, so visitors cannot travel up to or enter the castle. To give tourists a closer experience, a replica of Vaduz Castle has been placed near the Tourist Office at the bottom of the hill. 🏰

I also took a ride on the little tourist toy train, which was a fun and relaxed way to explore the town, see its main sights, and take in the beautiful Alpine surroundings. 🚂✨

Even though Vaduz is one of Europe’s smallest capitals, its peaceful atmosphere, mountain scenery and unique character make it a lovely place to explore - especially when you get the opportunity to discover it during a business trip🇱🇮❤️
