I'm incredibly proud to be included in the Austin Film Festival this year!!

The Doula, a thriller short film, will have its world premiere on Saturday, October 25th at the Galaxy Theater in Austin.

I started the writing journey three years ago at a writers retreat hosted by AFF and Barbara Morgan. And true to the mission of the festival, it has always supported emerging writers and filmmakers like myself.

But this film could not have come together without a TALENTED cast (Sarah, Leah, Mickey) and the INCREDIBLE, generous crew AND team!!

So, so grateful. 💕 by @thenotfromheremedia

Well...it's crazy...who knew? If I can do this, anyone can...

No film school. Just a dream.

BTS Facts: @larrahbopz drank her first Slurpee on set. Both Larrah and @its.lukemadden had a full Slurpee before 8am.

The shot took a LOT longer than anticipated, and before long, the 7-11 manager was kicking us out.

All that for a FREE location. Pretty sure I'm on their blacklist now. 😂🎬

Beautifully shot by @jskooter and camera team: @joshageyer @bojangles_98

Official on IMDb!

Four years ago, I began this journey in a BEGINNER screenwriters group in a New Mexico desert. No fucking clue what I had signed up for...

3 years later...2 out of 4 short films were shown at Austin Film Festival.

I'm 50.

Don't wait for permission to reach your dreams. 💕🎬

Looks simple. Wasn't. Here's a close up from The Doula-and behind the scene it took to get the shot. Thanks to a great team! @andygcat @jskooter @bojangles_98 @leahkmo @jonahdoessound

One of my favorite scenes that I shot. It was Sarah's idea (@drschol) to smear her lipstick at the last minute which made the scene! Side note, we didn't have a makeup artist nor the extra time so we only did one take of this. 😂

Collaboration is truly the best part of filmmaking.

Shown at Austin Film Festival. The Doula is available on YouTube.com/@notfromheremedia

Being a "middle aged" woman doesn't mean becoming invisible.

Quite the opposite.

I wear less clothes and more confidence.

Being sexy, being a mom, starting over, becoming a writer and a filmmaker or whatever you choose - all of it can co-exist.

If you had told me a year ago I'd be posting pics of me in bathtubs, I would've said "No f*cking way".

I eat my words.

Guess this is what 50 looks like and not giving two f*cks. (When not making films). 😂

The reality? Behind every "writer/director" is a day job.

I became a trader.

The more creatives I meet along this journey, the more I respect the hustle it takes to actually make something.

Not just talk about it.

A year of betting on yourself. Showing more skin than ever. Just the beginning of living in color.
