From trauma to hope to independence 🙌

@frameworkcharity's 25th Anniversary Art Exhibition opening today on October 10 (World Homeless Day) provides a deeper understanding of the complex challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness.

From Trauma to Hope to Independence brings together paintings, installations, spoken word performance, real life testimonies and a soundscape of noises heard by people experiencing rough sleeping.

The exhibition opens today at Southwell Minster, and will be there until October 20 before moving around the region.

It was an absolute pleasure to write about Beeston being one of the UK's coolest neighbourhoods for @timeoutlondon @timeouttravel - my first byline for the publication (fangirling is an understatement) 🐝

Thanks to being editor of @thenottsedit, I was asked to choose somewhere in Nottingham - and it was really tough to narrow it down (Sneinton and Sherwood also came to mind).

However, with its flurry of new openings (such as @marcellospasta, @tiramisuandcobeeston, and @glass.co.beeston) and hosting of world-class exhibitions at Lakeside Arts, Beeston had to be my coolest pick.

I also did some boots on the ground journalism while writing it (aka scoffing some incredible food, as well as sampling drinks @thebeestonsocial - my job can be hard).

So proud to fly the flag for Notts on a national level!

Earlier this week, I was kindly invited to @nottmgirlsgdst to speak to its Year 12s and 13s about my career in journalism and content creation! I shared how I went from A-Levels all the way to being freelance and setting up @thenottsedit.

I spoke about determination and finding opportunities, plus shared top tips for carving out your own path. I also answered some great questions on work/life balance (hard!) and whether I'll always be a journalist (hope so!).

Thanks for having me Nottingham Girls' High School! I am always happy to talk about my career and to share advice 😊

“In October 1766, Nottingham’s answer was delivered with remarkable clarity: the cheese could leave, but only after the town was served.”

One of the city’s most famous historical incidents is the Nottingham Cheese Riot, which took place during Goose Fair.

We delve into the events that unfolded on October 2 and 3, including why the riot happened, who was involved, and what they tell us about the past and even the present.
