Known as the “Grandmother of Juneteenth,” Lee spent years walking, speaking, petitioning, and educating communities about the holiday before Juneteenth became a federal holiday in 2021. Now, as she celebrates her 100th birthday on October 7, construction on the National Juneteenth Museum in her hometown of Fort Worth will begin, bringing a remarkable full-circle moment to a life devoted to remembering where we came from and thinking about what we do with that history. Ahead of the milestone, Lee reflects on the little girl she once was, the meaning behind Juneteenth, and the responsibility that comes with freedom.

Mindset Monday 🧠🧘
Sometimes, it’s not about having more discipline. It’s about being willing to let go of the plan.

We can get so attached to the timeline, the vision, and the way we think things are supposed to happen that we leave no room for God to show us something better.

There’s nothing wrong with having goals. But there’s freedom in remembering that our plans aren’t always the same as God’s plans for us. Sometimes the detour is the direction. Sometimes the pause is preparing you. Sometimes what feels like a disruption is actually an invitation.

Be disciplined enough to show up, but open enough to flow. 🤍

You don’t have to have every step figured out to walk into what you’re meant to do.

This week, ask yourself: Am I forcing MY plan or am I making room for God’s plan?

Mindset Monday ✨

At Create & Cultivate, Olandria shared that one of her biggest lessons after leaving the villa was learning to bet on herself. For a time, she put her dreams and aspirations aside because she was afraid of what failure might look like.

And how many of us can relate to that?

Sometimes the biggest thing standing between us and the life we want is the story we’ve already told ourselves about what could go wrong.

That’s why awareness matters. Catch the thought. Challenge the negative projection. Change the thought, and you can change the action. Change the action, and you create space for a different outcome.

If you’re committed to changing your life, you have to be willing to change your mind, too 💭✨ We’re rooting for you @olandria 💕🥰
