There’s a reason we’re called The Observatory. We notice what others miss, then we do something about it. ⚡ by @theobservatory
There’s a reason we’re called — The Observatory — We notice things. A brand that’s outgrown its own story. — A question the financial world needed to hear. What is nature worth? — A speedshop that belonged in culture. — Then we get stuck in. Strategy, identity, film and campaigns, made with you, at speed. — The Observatory. Great ideas. Good company. + Snazzy new website live. Check it out X — by @theobservatory
Some people make an impression. Andrew Mitchell leaves you with several stories, a larger view of the world and very little chance of an early night. We first met Andrew through our dear friend Matt Porteous, and quickly realised we’d met one of those characters that you just want more of in your life. There were stories of exploration, elephants and giant earwigs in caves, circling sharks and the canopies of the rainforest. The sort of life that makes you wonder whether you’ve been using your passport properly. But beneath the extraordinary stories from this global thought leader was a serious question: what future are we paying to create? His famous quote, ‘If we do not change the movement of money, we will finance ourselves into extinction’ hit us straight between the heart and the eyes. We spend much of our working lives helping people get attention. Here was someone asking us to help direct that attention towards something with consequences for everyone. How do you communicate an idea this large without losing people in its complexity? How do you preserve the intelligence and urgency while giving someone a way into the conversation? We started to build out the brand and develop the message - everything from a global consultancy site for Andrew to a sustainable finance training platform, decks, book covers, a podcast series and so much more, but it never felt like work. It felt meaningful, important, bloody exciting and all the time we had the absolute pleasure of spending time with this incredible man. Fast-track 10ish years, and the relationship has become a dear friendship, shared convictions, considerable laughter and the occasional late night fuelled by far too much vintage cognac. And that’s one of the great privileges of this work: being invited into someone else’s world, contributing something useful and discovering that the connection lasts far beyond the brief. We get asked this a lot: “How the fcuk do you two work together and stay married?” Excellent question 😂 Some days are fun. Some days are hard. We know each other’s strengths. We know the weaknesses too. We solve problems every day, roll with the punches, try to be kind, and never take each other for granted. That’s pretty much it. Love, work, life. All gloriously mixed together. And somehow, after all these years, we still choose each other every day. And we’d have it no other way. ❤️ by @theobservatory
Humans of Joy. — by @theobservatory
Joy is a serious asset. . . . Joy is not a luxury or distraction; it’s a serious asset, the quiet force that gives ambition, meaning and momentum. — Creative Direction - London // Ibiza // California by @theobservatory

Obligation doesn’t move people. Feeling does. — by @theobservatory
When you feel something, you protect it. And the best way to make someone feel something? Not statistics. Not data. - Story. - Ocean Culture is the home of ocean storytellers. We’re not asking you to save the ocean. We’re bringing you home to it. — 🤘🏾 by @theobservatory
A sneak peek into the Ocean Culture repositioning, finding the language, structure, and visual world for a decade of meaningful ocean impact. Bringin’ it Home. — An incredible, fun, challenging process and what’s not to love when you’re building with friends who share the same vision and soul? — More soon. 💙 by @theobservatory
A derelict garden. A quiet act of faith. - A story of love, care, community, and the beauty that grows when people refuse to give up. - We love working with incredibly talented people to bring stories like this to life. - More soon. - by @theobservatory
After years of building stories, campaigns and creative systems for brands around the world, we are bringing our focus home. To the ocean. The outdoors. Wellbeing. Nature-first brands. The organisations and movements doing work the world needs to feel. The Observatory is now a senior creative partner for impact brands that need to move people, money and culture. We turn nature-first ambition into stories, systems and momentum. We’re for: Ocean organisations with serious ambition. Outdoor and adventure brands with a deeper reason to exist. Wellbeing brands rooted in real human change. Nature-first founders building something better. Initiatives that need the world to feel what is at stake. Impact businesses that need commercial clarity without creative compromise. We’re not for: Greenwashers. Corporate purpose theatre. Committees looking for wallpaper. Brands that want to borrow from nature but not answer to it. — by @theobservatory
