"sub-urbanism" - a low-rise cohousing typology to gently densify suburban landscapes.

Media and perception pose a significant challenge to the expansion of affordable housing in the United States. Images of material decay in urban areas are closely linked to long-standing segregationist attitudes about race, poverty and social dysfunction. Since the 1973 moratorium on federal funds to build public housing, a dichotomy of American housing types has emerged: urban public housing as a troubled supportive measure, contrasted with Eden-like representations of wealth in the suburbs. What kinds of housing solutions lie beyond these categorizations? How can media become a tool to mediate polarized notions of subsidized housing? by @theodorehk
