The foundation for 2027 starts here. 🏈

The American Arena League brought together league leadership, team representatives, and key stakeholders for our 2027 League Meeting.

A day centered on collaboration, growth, league operations, player safety, and the continued development of arena football.

As we prepare for the upcoming season, our focus remains on strengthening the league, supporting our organizations, and building a competitive and sustainable future.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and continues to be part of the AAL’s vision.

MEMPHIS,TN- The American Arena League (AAL) is proud to announce the Memphis Blues as an expansion team for the 2027 season. The Blues come to the American Arena League under majority owner James Fisher.

In the same thought process as many other expansion teams and teams realigning from other leagues to the AAL, Memphis comes into the fold as a well-thought-out addition with regionality and affordability in mind for the franchise and league as a whole.

The mission of the American Arena League has been and always will be affordable, owner and fan-centric policies that give everyone the chance to enjoy and grow in the arena game. The Blues embody this mission. They come with a fanbase that is already excited for the team, as they were for the former Memphis franchise, along with an owner who acted as a minority owner and General Manager in 2026.

While a transition will have to be made from aspects of the rule set, equipment, and facilities that have been required in the past season, the ownership, league, and league officials are committed to ensuring they have a seamless transition into the AAL and its requirements. Much of what is required has already been obtained by Fisher in preparation for the move.

Plans are already in place to hire an experienced front office, grow roots in the core of the Memphis community, and launch in a new arena in 2027 while still staying completely local to the Memphis area.

“ We are Memphis’s Pro football team; we will keep our promises to the community, fans, and city. We are excited to make the move to a league that wants and supports us”, said Fisher when asked about the move.
