On my way to work this morning, I saw a group of school children dressed in green and white, some in their uniforms, marching with their Independence banners, music playing, teachers hyping them with cameras everywhere.

And omo… something shifted in me.

It took me back to a time when Independence Day felt like such a big deal. Parents happily dressed their children up and sent them out for parades like this. There was excitement, pride and this sense of belonging.

But look at us now.

With the crime, insecurity, corruption and all the vices that have bedevilled our society, even when security is assured, parents can still hesitate to release their children. And honestly, who can blame them?
Many have gotten to the point where they ask,

“Who Nigeria help? Abeg make Una sit down for house for me”

Somehow, our struggles have made it difficult for us to express the patriotism that is still deeply rooted in us.

But watching those children this morning reminded me that the love is still there.
Nigerians love Nigeria. I love Nigeria
We just desperately want a Nigeria that gives us more reasons to show it.

I pray that God helps us, keeps us and leads us into a better society.

NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION!!!!
I’ve never been big on New Year resolutions.
Writing plans, goals, resolutions and all that.

Not because goal-setting is bad or growth doesn’t matter.
Some people need targets to stay grounded, to stay moving and be up and doing and honestly that’s valid.
For some people, written goals are fuel. They help them stay focused.

But others need faith, awareness, and movement without turning life into a checklist or a scoreboard.
Because sometimes, when goals are written down and timelines aren’t met, they become another reason to feel like a failure,
when in truth, you haven’t failed.

I tilt towards the latter.

So if you’re like me, here’s a reminder as we step into 2026:

Live.
Breathe.
Don’t mount pressure on yourself.

In a world that celebrates loud wins, many people are grinding quietly, starting from zero, stretching small resources, blood and sweat, trusting God in private.

Sometimes we chase the big win so desperately
and get so consumed in the chase
that we become blind to what God has already done
and ignore the miracle we are already living in.

Breath is a miracle.
Survival is a miracle.
Growth (fast or slow) is a miracle.

Pressure blinds us.
Gratitude opens our eyes.

So in 2026, I’m choosing to walk with God, not race ahead of Him.
I’ll still dream.
I’ll still work.
I’ll still want more. (Like good old Oliver ☺️)

But I won’t despise the season I’m in.

I will honour small wins.
I will keep my faith active.
I will move at my own pace and trust God with the timing.

If you’re still standing, still trying, still praying —
my dear, you sef no small.
You are already living in a miracle.
Embrace it and LIVE.

So here’s a glass 🥂 to good life.
Welcome to 2026.

MESSAGE: BLIND SPOTS: Luke 18: 10-14

As two men left the Temple that day, one felt proud, thinking he pleased God with his goodness. But he didn't see his own faults - he lacked kindness and understanding for others, Deep in pride and self- righteousness. The other man, a tax collector, felt sorry for his mistakes and asked God for forgiveness. Surprisingly, he left feeling right with God.

The Pharisee, filled with pride, believed he was flawless in God's eyes. However, his arrogance prevented him from recognizing his lack of humility and compassion.

Conversely, the tax collector, despite facing societal scorn and acknowledging his personal failings and blind spots, departed justified before God. His humble admission of his own sins acted as a key, unlocking the gates of mercy and forgiveness and the light of Christ illuminated his path.

The moral? We all have blind spots, aspects of ourselves that we fail to see. Rather than boasting about our righteousness, let's follow the tax collector's example of humility. By acknowledging our imperfections, we open ourselves to receive God's boundless love and forgiveness.

Just as Mephibosheth experienced the dual dimensions of favour from David—merited through his lineage(Jonathan's loyalty and friendship) and unmerited through God's providence—may we too encounter blessings that are both earned through our actions(Merited) and bestowed upon us by divine grace.(Unmerited)
May we continually embrace the duality of favour in our lives, acknowledging the blessings earned through our endeavors while remaining open to the unmerited grace bestowed upon us by a loving and generous God. Amen
