Boy, this is all so surreal now.

It seems like I keep losing parts of my history. I mean, we all are! Mr BELDING? Rest in peace, sweet Dennis Haskins.

I had forgotten the part of our story where, before we were both cast in Good Morning, Miss Bliss aka Saved By The Bell,
we played husband and wife in the musical ANGRY HOUSEWIVES. My then manager, Neil Hassman, brought the producers of Good Morning, Miss Bliss to see me in the show. After I had signed to play the role of Tina Pallodrino on GMMB, and they had still not cast the role of Mr. Belding, Neal brought them back again to see Dennis. And after something like seven or eight auditions, Dennis began his role in making history when he got the part of Mr. Belding.

Dennis was always such a generous actor and coworker, and he never let anyone forget how he had gotten the role. I would always forget that part of the story and every time I saw him, he would make sure that everyone within earshot knew how he had gotten the part. That’s who he was. The last time I saw him, Caryn Richman and I went with him to karaoke, and he was surrounded by fans and could not have been kinder to each and every one. And boy, Dennis sure loved karaoke.

I’ve tried to get in contact with Dennis many times in the last few years and now I’m thinking that perhaps he was sick and not answering calls because of it.

Dennis, you have left a beautiful and meaningful legacy, my friend. We will all miss your beautiful spirit. by @theofficialjoanryan

I am so grateful that I was dressed by Bob Mackie. It has been such a special part of my own personal history.

I had, as so many of us had, grown up obsessed with The Carol Burnett show and all the amazing characters Bob and Carol created…I got to witness his genius first hand when I was cast in the LA production of Ruthless! the musical.

In act one, my character was the perfect 50’s housewife, Judy Denmark, and in Act 2, Judy discovers she has talent and becomes a great, big, diva/Broadway star.

For Judy, Bob created the most perfect dress, complete with great, big petticoats and an apron that matched the curtains in my kitchen. (Genius!) I loved her so much!

And for Ginger, Bob’s vision for the transition was incredible. I must admit, when Bob put the outrageous, Cruella DeVille wig on my head for the first time, and I will never forget this, I was fighting back tears. And I thought to myself, how can I be upset? This is Bob Mackie!!!

But Bob was so smart. The minute I put on the wig with the equally spectacular costume for Ginger, I knew EXACTLY who she was. I mean, THE MINUTE. It gave me her physicality and her strut. That was truly his genius.

Through the years, whenever I had a concert, Bob’s magical studio on Tujunga would be my first stop. The remarkable Worthie would pull gowns and we would make decisions on what I should wear.

These sketches were my opening night presents from Bob and I treasure them so much, in fact, when we had to evacuate for the LA fires, these were one of the first things I put in the car to take with us.

A few years ago, I was at a bookstore with my daughter, Kelsey and we were looking at the books and I gasped, very loudly…Kelsey worried, came running over. Then she let out a very loud gasp..I had picked up The Bob Mackie book and that our production of Ruthless had two beautiful pages in his book.

I will be forever grateful to Bob Mackie and to be a small part of his legacy that has become part of mine, is something I will treasure forever. by @theofficialjoanryan
