They told me the industry had a mold, and for a long time in London, I tried to shrink myself to fit it.

I’m Asian. I’m freelance. And I am—proudly—not a sample size.

Navigating the markets from the grit of London to the light of Spain, Italy, and other parts of Europe has taught me that “the standard” is often just a lack of imagination. Building this career without an agency safety net wasn’t the easy path, but it was the one that let me keep my soul intact.

I’m starting The Model’s Ledger because I’m tired of the gatekeeping. I want to turn my “lessons learned the hard way” into a roadmap for those of us who don’t see ourselves in the typical brief.

But before I share what I know, I want to hear where you are.

If @anthonyvaccarello chapter at @ysl is indeed coming to an end, it closes a decade that fundamentally reshaped the house’s modern visual language.

He didn’t simply reinterpret Saint Laurent’s codes — he made them feel urgent again: sharp tailoring, bare skin, nocturnal glamour, a certain Parisian nonchalance. His Saint Laurent was instantly recognisable, and that is perhaps the greatest mark of a creative director.

For me, the Vaccarello era has been more than something to admire from the runway. It has influenced how I see style — the power of a silhouette, the seduction of restraint, and the confidence of never needing to overstate the point.
