One big day is behind us and now it’s time to turn stark attention to the one that follows incredibly closely behind it-New Year’s Eve…you see, my name’s Mike…I play in Petty Theft and usually on New Year’s Eve, we are in action…this New Year’s Eve is no exception…all my mates-Bill, Drew, Steve, Eric and James and I will be doing that thing we do and we’ll be doing it at the same place where we’ve been the last 2 or 3 or 4 NYEs: Dan’s Silverleaf, Denton’s seminal music venue…there are a couple of things you need to know about this…first, and most important, they do NYE a little different at Dan’s Silverleaf…they do it according to Greenwich Mean Time, which is 6 hours ahead of the Central Standard Time we presently enjoy in this part of the world…so what, exactly, does that mean, you ask?…what it means is it amounts to a somewhat late matinee-downbeat will be 5p; at 6 we’ll stop down and commemorate the big moment, just line they’ll do in Greenwich, and then we’ll roll on until 7, which means that the first thing you’ll absorb in 2025 will be a healthy dose of Tom Petty music…it means you’ll start the year off with something good; it also means you’ll have the rest of New Year’s Eve to rip it up wherever and however you might choose-or don’t…the other thing you need to know is how you get tickets…for that, go to danssilverleaf.com and take it from there…it’s a righteous way to start off the new year, so get down on it and let’s usher in 2025 with the big bang… by @theoldgreywolf16

The 27th Annual Heart of Gold Foundation Golf Tournament sends about 120 cardiac kids to Camp Moss every summer — a week where children with transplants and half-hearts get to do the zip line like everybody else, with an ICU on site in case.

Knox Fitzpatrick and Mark Leach told us the whole story on Ep 260, including how a kid selling raffle tickets in a Greenville Avenue bar in 1999 started all of it.

⚾ Ep 258 — “Losing Glove Battles, Five AL West Teams & Life After Baseball” with Mark McLemore.

He played for every team in the AL West. Got released by the two worst clubs in baseball six months apart, decided he didn’t believe them, and went to Baltimore and rebuilt the whole thing.

In here: Johnny Oates and Doug Melvin, the ‘96 Rangers getting back together thirty years later with all the stories grown two sizes, why Cal Ripken is actually hilarious and Billy’s funnier, and the day a ground ball at third knocked the glove clean off his hand into left field.

Also — he’s done. Doesn’t follow the Rangers, doesn’t miss broadcasting, flies drones and hangs out with his granddaughter. And he’s at peace with it.

On both Giants touchdown throws there wasn't a Cowboy in the next county — PJ Locke sprinting just to catch up. Mike Rhyner wrote "who had him?" six times on his notepad. That's kryptonite.
